Bradford Dudley Hill look to force Thatto Heath to the Wall

Neil Wall Neil Wall

Bradford Dudley Hill’s powerhouse wingman Neil Wall is bound to play a key role when they welcome old rivals Thatto Heath Crusaders to Parry Lane in the National Conference Premier Division.

Wall will have the task of spearheading the Hill attack as they seek to add another home victory against the St Helens side who pipped them at the post by one point in last year’s fixture on their way to promotion.

He will also have the responsibility of snuffing out the threat posed by his speedy opposite number Darren Woods, who scored a hat-trick against Wigan St Pats last time out.

Hill youngster Elliott Cousins is sidelined with a knee injury sustained in last week’s defeat at Siddal which could pave the way for a quick return to action by free-scoring scrum half Tony Williams, who has returned to the fold after summer rugby duties with Bramley Buffaloes.

Team manager Jason Hoyland’s ambitions to secure a top place play-off spot remains undiminished despite Hill’s poor away form.

“It is a mystery why we can play so well at home and not repeat that form on our travels,” said Hoyland.

“We gave as good as we got last week at Siddal, who looked no better than us, and I expect the lads will be once again in red-hot form on our return to Parry Lane.”

West Bowling have a chance to ignite their Division Two campaign when they entertain undefeated Eastmoor Dragons at Bankfoot Oval.

West’s prop Paul Hutchinson is pencilled in to play a part in the proceedings after a two-year lay off with a knee injury and teenage full back Domenic Hadfield will make his debut.

Coach Ricky Helliwell, who is on crutches following a leg operation, hands over the reins to his assistant Ady Leek and the former Batley half-back will have the added responsibility on field of leading Bowling to a much-needed victory as they bid to climb the table from next to bottom spot.

There is also more welcome news with the return of the vastly experienced second-row pair Phil Chappell and Sha Basha.

Unfortunately, former Doncaster forward Liam Brown, who has been in fine nick in all of their games so far, misses out with a damaged knee.
