Callum Wraight (Castlefields) and John Dewey (Belvedere Park) were the latest qualifiers in the Coors PUDSEY CLASSIC.

Wraight came through with a walkover in the opening round, followed by wins over Andy Cairns (Rossendale) 21-17 and Ashley Wilcock (Crossgates) 21-11.

Dewey made comfortable progress against Dave Walker (Scholes) 21-15, Phil Hill (Meanwood) 21-15 and Graham Hickey (Halifax) 21-11.

The final qualifying round of eight takes place on Friday, with many local bowlers in action.

The RAYNOR TROPHY floodlit singles competition at Rufford was won by Richard Stockdale.

He beat Guiseley team-mate Gary Whelan 21-16 in the final after an initial entry of 53.

The 12th PUDSEY JUNIOR CLASSIC takes place on Sunday. Entries will be taken until 9.30am on the day, with a draw at the green for a 10am start.

It is open to boys and girls aged 16 and under on the day and competition is handicapped by age. The entry fee is £2, with the winner receiving £80. Anyone interested should contact Stuart Hanson on 07979-568591.

The WALTER WORSMAN TEENAGE HANDICAP, sponsored by B&M Motors of Wibsey, takes place at Knowles Park on Sunday, with a start and scratch of 1pm.
