Taylor: I'm in no race to recruit

Ryan Kendall, fourth from left, is swamped by his team-mates after scoring the match-winner at Crewe Ryan Kendall, fourth from left, is swamped by his team-mates after scoring the match-winner at Crewe

Peter Taylor will play a waiting game as he looks to beef up City into promotion contenders.

Taylor is in the market for at least half a dozen new signings in time for next term.

But with the season now done, he has no plans to dive in and make quick captures.

Taylor said: “Unless it’s a 100 per cent real steal, I would say I’m a patient man in that respect. I may have learned from other managers over the years.

“I can only spend my money once. If you spend it in the first week after the season’s finished, then all of a sudden other people might appear and you wish you’d waited.”

Ryan Kendall’s goal at Crewe ensured City made a winning finale and Taylor admitted the Hull youngster and other loanees Robbie Threlfall and Adam Bolder are under consideration for his summer rebuilding.

“They are in my plans and we are talking. I’ve spoken to all the players and told them they are on my list. If it means there is a place for them, then they could get offered something.”

Gareth Evans will need treatment before he heads off on holiday after suffering a thigh injury in the Gresty Road win.

Kendall replaced him after half an hour and Taylor was delighted to see the rookie striker score for only the second time.

He added: “It’s been a little bit tough for Ryan because he hasn’t played as much football as he probably would have liked.

“But he’s worked hard and his actual finishing in training has looked a lot better lately. He made a good run for the goal and it was a nice finish.”

Would Kendal be a good signing. He's been here for a while and I would have thought PT might have played him more to decide. That said, maybe PT is convinced of his ability but wanted to see his attitude to training and not being an automatic choice. He has however scored 2 very well taken goals in not a lot of game time. If PT isn't in a rush it may be a while before we find out. CTID.

With money being a real concern regarding signings i wonder how many who decided not to buy a season ticket are floaters, thus pick and choosing "championship" matches over in Leeds? sad but true.

as i understand from the club we sold 8000 season tickets 6000 were sold in the first deal, 2000 this time.
i would expect another 2000 to be sold from now till august giving us crowds of 10000 maybe 11000 sounds about right..
anyways i cant wait for the new season

next the world cup

a sensible move by Taylor: with the squad we have now including current loanees and maybe Oliver we are not too far short of having a promotion team.

I would suggest we need three/ four more players: another keeper, another centrehalf/ fullback and a couple of mobile midfiled players.

However what has not been said how mnay of the current squad out of contract have signed again: one would hope they would all sign.

Ramsden and Williams have agreed that the second year option be exercised so they are happy.

As regards Hanson :if he is openly talking to supporters ( see other threads) that he may be on the move then he should be told unequivocally that he should say nowt.

these people who complain season tickets are too high need to look at other similar clubs or maybe look at themselves for not getting at christmas time...even at £194 or whatever it is is still a bargain!!! these people are the same ones who will be complaining about the lack of funds in the club. as said by someone above i actually feel i've short changed the club at £110 and credit to the poster above for waiting to pay more - hats off to ya!!

anyone who thinks they have been undercharged bu the club for their season ticket can,of course, make a donation to the club: BUT HOW MANY WILL.
Should the club get promotion next season will fans be prepared more for their season tickets?

i have said before it would be good if the club had some kind of fund where fans could donate extra money providing they can afford to do so which would be used for team strengthening only maybe one fan could afford £10 a month another only £2 but also if a fan decides he/she wishes only to donate if and when they can thats fine too theres is no obligation or contract therefore anyone can stop at any time.
we might only get say £500 a month or so going into the fund but it could help towards a new signing.
If this is possible to set up the only thing i would like the club to do is each month is to print a statement saying how much they have recieved every month so we as fans know how our money is working for the club.
any thoughts anyone how this could be done i am sure bournemouth do have something similar or did so in the past.

not a bad idea :administration may prove difficult but not insurmountable..
separated completely from the club until such time as it needs to dip into it?. However who would give the authority to release funds at any givem time?

Basically the club would have access to the fund only on grounds of getting new players in it the fund would not pay for debts it pays only for a players wage or fee therefore should we have money issues again the club have no authority to remove these funds to help pay them.
I suppose we would need someone to oversee the fund and that needs looking into but lets say taylor wants a player on loan for a month and his wage is say £500 per week and we have enough money in the fund the money is automatically released its just my opinion that i feel could work.

As i can understand that Peter taylor has his own way of doing things,I can't understand why he has got rid of Clarke. Clarke has been very consistant for the last 3rd of the season and the bums on seats captain has been his consistant self, which is shocking. I personally think Rehman should have gone because he is just poor.

horten bantam. Hav'nt you learned any thing about the workings of B.C.F.C yet. Playing in an asian area of Bradford it is politicly correct to have an asian player playing for the local team, just to prove we are not racist, it does'nt matter a jot weather he can play or not. But not only that they think they will have thousands upon thousands of asians comming to watch.Unfortunately it does'nt work like that but they have'nt realised that yet. But they will some day.

that comment is just racist anyway. and rehman has been as consistant as clarke over the last 3months but most people would say that clarke has been inconsistant for 4 years which is simply not good enough and anyway rehman has another year left so unless your going to pay his contract off he will be staying

Just been catching up on previous stories, Shaun is funny!!
I would having standing order of say £10 a month without a doubt.
Out of the true fans if 1,000 can afford it that is £2,307 per week.....£769 per week we have 3 excellent league 2 players.
Come on Mr Baldwin lets give it a go, what is there to lose?
Lets help Mark, Julian and his dad..

I do like the idea of a supporters fund type thing, but i can't really comment because i'm a student and so would most likely struggle to pay consistently at the moment. For anyone who could afford it (and if i could i would love to) it could be a great idea.

On a different note does anyone no anywhere or have any links to somewhere you can see out of contract players. I'd be interested to have a look at players out of contract in League 2, and does anybody know of any rumours and/or who Taylors top targets are?
Cheers.

Didn't the club (and the T&A) try to launch something like this a couple of seasons back? I remember the season ticket application giving the option of making a donation and the T&A said the accounts would be published.

As there was very little donated, the account was closed. Wasn't the scheme called "The Stuart McCall Fighting Fund", or something like that?

If I have got this correct, you are questionning why Taylor has released Clarke but then adding that "Clarke has been very consistant for the last 3rd of the season". What about the other 2/3rds or more importantly, the three seasons before that!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The reason (and probably only reason) that Rehman is still here next season, is the fact he is still under contract. Could you afford to buy him out of a 14 month deal at around£1k a week????
