Rangers edge rivals to remain unbeaten

Ravensthorpe Rangers won the battle of the Spen Valley League top two as they gained a psychological boost against leaders Bradford with a 2-1 PREMIER DIVISION win.

Bradford still head the table by two points but unbeaten Rangers have two games in hand.

Girdip Bhamber netted with a 30-yard drive for Bradford but earlier goals from Zah and Fessi proved decisive.

Quarry’s promotion hopes in DIVISION ONE suffered a blow as they lost 3-2 at Marsh, with Mark Mullins hitting a last-minute winner.

Mathew Parkinson scored both Quarry goals but Ashley McDaid and Oliver Brydon replied.

Wellington eased their relegation fears as a 2-1 win at White Rose lifted them above their fellow strugglers. Richard McCann and Tom Yarnold bagged the key goals.

In the Centenary Cup, Fairbank maintained their GROUP A hopes with a narrow 2-1 home victory over rock-bottom Howden Clough.

Akif Waseem struck the winner after an hour to add to an earlier goal from Usman Nawaz.

George Healey were also 2-1 winners at Norfolk thanks to goals from Jake Spencer and Billy Simpson, with Phil Irvine named man of the match. Substitute Ilyas Lunat back-heeled the Norfolk consolation.

Savile Town maintained top spot in GROUP B with a 5-2 home win against Inter Batley as Imran Patel claimed a hat-trick.

Adda and Hazi completed the tally, with Ramzan Mazher and Faten Laher replying.

Youth 2000 edged a 4-3 outcome at Bosnia, who missed a late chance to equalise from the penalty spot.

Goals from A Ashiq, M Bham, A Lakhi and S Bhana outweighed Elvir Tervic, Adis Jagnanjac and Meho Hjadzic.
