Kendall vows to add energy to City front line

Confident Ryan Kendall is ready to slip Peter Taylor’s City revolution into another gear.

The rookie Hull striker trained with the Bantams for the first time and declared his intention to race into the side to face Hereford.

Kendall, 20, said: “The main part of my game is my speed and playing off someone.

“Obviously James Hanson is the big man up front and would be an ideal partner, winning a lot in the air.

“The manager has told me he wants some fresh legs up front and bright energy and hopefully I can give him that.

“It’s difficult at Hull because they are that tight to the bottom. It wasn’t really the right time or place to take chances on young lads, so I’ve been waiting all season to come out on loan.

“This is a great move for me and I’ll try to pay the manager back by scoring goals and winning games.”

Hull-born Kendall, signed on a month’s loan, was playing for the under-16s when Taylor was leading the Tigers to back-to-back promotions.

He added: “I only met him once or twice but a lot of people I spoke to at the stadium have said what a great manager he is.

“He did a fantastic job with Hull and everyone there’s got a lot of respect for him.”

Kendall is the sixth new face and arrives after Peter Thorne and Michael Boulding were paid up.

The Telegraph & Argus understands that a similar offer has also been put to Chris Brandon.

He started Taylor’s first game at Accrington but has not made the squad since.

Taylor said: “I’m looking at next season a little bit and whether people are going to play or not.

“I was very honest with Michael and Peter and they both accepted the situation.”

Taylor’s clinical rebuilding of the squad has been backed by the board.

Joint-chairman Mark Lawn said: “Once he makes a decision, he goes with it.

“Peter’s a very strong man.”

Lets hope Dowie gets the Hull job and Peter is signed on a 2 year deal at City. I think he's proved he is good enough and also brave enough to make some awkward decisions. Lets have a bit of stability before the Summer and we can all look forward to a successful season next year.
Good luck to Ryan Kendall by the way, a hat trick on Saturday would be nice.

agree completely:this surely is the end for mccammon who can hardly fit into the role of someone with pace playing off Hanson

When are you going to be the same, Mr. Chairman - you made your decision to sign Taylor until the end of the season, you have now seen first-hand just what the man can do. Are you now go alaong with your decision and get the bloke tied up to a longer deal??

I agree with the comments above. We need Peter Taylor tied down to a longer term contract. It won't be that pretty but it will get us out of this division!!

Update from Fatbloke, Brandon has left the club this lunch time. Seems like Waynus has been consistent this week and been wrong about everything!!

Taylor will get us out of this division win some uncompromising football: you can see the team evolving with a strong central spine with uncompromising defenders. the aim is to get 30 or so 1-0 wins a season and a few draws.

no doubt a few fans will m oan about that but surely a winning team is the requirement

So Brandon has left the club.... this proves what exactly? Are you saying that because we have been trying to get him (and our other high earners shortly out of contract) off our books, this proves that there was a 36 game clause????

Are we also saying that Boulding and/or Thorne also had minimum game release clauses too and that was the sole reason for their departures? Get a grip man, this news has proven nothing!

In relation to 'Kendall', can someone point out the reasoning behind this signing. I won't knock Taylor as he has a proven track record and knows what he is doing, but this signing is very strange.

Kendall has NEVER played senior football. It is claimed he is a 'regular' for Hull City's reserves, when in fact, over the past few months, he hasn't played too many games (in fact the kid on loan at Grimsby has played more).

However, the thing I simply don't grasp was the statement from his reserve coach. "Ryan has bags of energy and will run and run and run. He will chase lost causes all day long and put pressure on the back-line. However, Ryan still needs to keep working hard in training and improve his finishing and positioning. It is going to be hard for him, with the senior team battling at the wrong end of the table, he is unlikely to get any chances in the forseeable future".

So, Kendall will 'run and run and run' and 'chase lost causes all day long' but 'needs to improve his finishing and positioning'. Have we just signed another Gareth Evans??? If Taylor wants someone like Kendall up front, why doesn't he start Evans there?

Any suggestions?

WELL SAID VALLEYOFSHAME:

PT is creating the base of the team he wants. Evans has a place but ,like all players, he needs competition.

PT is also using the loan system to have a look at players close up just to see how they perform and whether he wants them next season. . NOTHING AT ALL WRONG IN THAT EITHER.

Its great to see both Bouldings have finally left City , im gutted for Peter Thorne because he gave a lot to the club and at least he put the effort in unlike M Boulding although his brother never got a chance.

Brandon will be next as a lot of people suggested at Saturdays game and the rumour was even at the weekend that Thorne Boulding and Brandon had gone or at least would never play for City again which to me only leaves Zesh Rehman however with the award for community work being awarded it makes you wonder what the real reason Zesh was brought to the club for certainly with many a terrible footballing performance on the pitch and the fact he was very rarely dropped I suspect like many he was brought people of other ethnic minorities which bar a coach load from Manningham first school on free tickets has not worked.

I would like to congratulate Peter Taylor for turning City's fortunes around so quickly we look fitter stronger and on Saturday we really looked up for the game , James Hanson & Matt Clarke's game has improved so much under Taylor , I was never Clarkes biggest fan but put him alongside Williams or the new lad who played Saturday and he was like a man mountain , won lots in the air , big and strong and mighty impressive.

At the moment we are 15-16th in the table and I personally cannot wait for our next game , thank you Peter Taylor for making it enjoyable to watch City again

I found that Clarke was playing alright if not well before Taylor took over. Granted his passing/distribution is poor, but if he sticks to defending, etc then he has been ok. I believe he has been a scapegoat of a lot of City fans (sheep).
It's a bit rich to say Taylor has made him look great so soon after all he is not a junior he is a senior pro.

Clarke has gone from donkey to a very good centre half in a very short space of time when you watch City home and away every game you pick up on things and the general opinion not just mine is that Clarke has been outstanding.

He did carry the can for Rehman on many occasions which isnt on but put him alongside another confident centre half and Clarkes own game improves , its not rich to say Taylor has made him look so great its the truth , the next time you go to city look at the difference in Clarkes play and the little bit of extra aggression James Hanson seems to have found , it makes a big difference

Why the aggression girls? I simply asked why we had released two 'poachers' and then signed a like-for-like with Evans. Taylor has yet to start him up front, so I found it surprising that he has signed another player first. It wasn't criticism and I made sure that I pointed this out before I asked the question.

The point I was making is that we now have 2 'big uns' up front in Hanson/McCammon and 2 'runners' in Evans/Kendall. The only pacy player we have is Daley, so I simply opened up a debate as to what other people's thoughts were.

I get knocked for 'arguing and clogging up the message board', yet as soon as I do try to start a healthy debate, there you all are ready to throw the slurs and the bad-mouthing! WHY????

From what i have heard of him he is very pacy and will give omar a run for his money, in fact does he not say himself that pace is one of his main attributes. I think he will play both evans as a right sided midfielder/winger and Kendra up front with Hanson the team is getting fitter, bigger and younger by the week all attributes we have all posted on here as needed to get out of this league. Yes, we had many debates regarding Clarke's qualities or lack of them. I believe you said Lee was pulling Clarke down with him and putting too much work his way, due to constantly going to ground. However, despite having a number of partners this season, he still looks ropey.

Admittedly, with the ball in the air, he is very good (although he has ducked a couple of times - most memorably one of the goals against County on the opening day), but still frightens me when the ball is on the floor with an opponent closing him down. He has improved in this area of his game and tries to put the ball into touch, instead of trying to play football. That said, you know that in the 90 minutes, he will have one major error and this season they usually cost us a goal.

My views on him haven't changed (unlike some on here), I still believe he is a poor footballer and there are much better players out there.

WHY????
You asked for an opinion and you got one. Pure and simple. Teylor haas not asked for one, so why bother?
I asked for an opinion on the signing, not what you think of me! If you didn't have one or believe one shouldn't be made (because Taylor didn't ask you), then why post anything?

Are you trying to say you won't post an opinion on something Taylor does in the future? Funny that, but I thought that was exactly what we all do most days!

I i arued last season particularly with waynus when Clarke was the number one hate target by many he wasn't has bad as many made out. I do not consider him to be a a good defender as the fickle on here have suddenly concluded, just not has bad as was been made out and that had alot to do with the inept football of Lee (heading aside). I unlike the pure wind up merchant BALBRIGGAN FC also am proved correct more often than not. People should actually listen occasionally. I believe thhat Taylor also agrees with my long held opinions of Boulding, Brandon. Again like Balbriggan i predicted these as failures very early on
Clarke has always looked better with somebody to organise him. When he was partnered with Rehman we saw the very worst of him but when Ramsden was with him he looked quite solid.
I agree that better players are out there, other than the obvious ones, but Clarke was another who took a wage cut to stay on. If you pay peanuts.............

Yeah, just what is this, and has the audacity to call me a pure wind up merchant! It's just outrageous, he should apologise.

The fact that you believe that Taylor agrees with your long held opinions!
You know very little if anything what Taylor knows/believes.
Before this was finally made public, Fatbloke and I confirmed it. I also explained to you the reasons why Brandon has gone - stating that it was very little to do with Taylor himself, it was decided before the manager was announced so it would have nothing to do with who came in.
Whether you believe it or not is upto you but to start claiming, Taylor agrees with you is extremely rich to say the least.
