Taylor admits to being 'interested' in Hull job

Peter Taylor does not expect to see his name in the hat for the vacant Hull job.

Taylor was an early 16/1 shot with the bookies to go back to the KC Stadium following Phil Brown’s departure yesterday.

The Bantams boss laid the foundations for Hull’s rise to the Premier League with back-to-back promotions and remains close to chairman Adam Pearson.

Taylor said: “People know my feelings about Hull City. It was an incredible four years there.

“Me being interested in Hull City, I think that’s pretty obvious – but I don’t think I’m a contender.

“I feel sorry for Phil because I think he’s done a great job for them but I do understand maybe it’s the last throw of the dice to try and keep them in the league.

“Sometimes a change of face all of a sudden lifts the club.”

Taylor, who has won four of his seven games since succeeding Stuart McCall, is currently working on a short-term contract at Valley Parade until the end of the season.

He was due to watch Notts County, City’s next home opponents, play Bournemouth last night.

Gary Megson and Alan Curbishley are the short-priced favourites to take over at Hull with former England coach and Tigers midfielder Steve McClaren also in the frame.

never say never in football:if we are serious about Taylor getting us up two divisions then he should be signed up for those two seasons now especially as he is already laying foundations for next season.

some good news Hughes is suspended for their game at City.

We need taylor to stay! he has already released a few players from the squand and if he were to go i fear the worse for the club. Taylor has so far done a fantastic job at bradford and the chairman should have signed him up on a three year contract long ago!

I think its clear from what peter taylor as said in this interview, it seems to me he dosnt see himself staying at bradford city, so expect to see a new manager in the coming months..
he has realy gone down im my estimations you just cant go round saying your interested in another job while at another. that to me dosnt show him being interested in bradford city..

I think he is "interested"in Hull City because he had 4 good years with them, and more than likely keeps an eye on their results, probably just the same as Jewell/McCall do with us.

Premiership or bottom half of league 2 mate - any manager with any ambition at all would be interested.

Stop looking for reasons to have a go at him.

The chairmen would be to blame if he went, they even suggested they may interview people for his job for next season when they employed him. I think the powers that be have maybe tried to be a bit too clever, hopefully it won't come back to bite them/us!

If they had tied him down to a long contract, he could still go to a premiership club but at least we would be compensated.

at least this manager does not rely on DVDS : unless, of course, SM took his home when he was sacked. LOL.

My guess is that he will stay as he sees us as another challenge and can, with the right resouces, do a similar job as he did at Hull.

Hull will want a higher profile and younger manager. IMHO

I'll bet your £1 to £100 of mine that he does use DVDs Tyker. Any manager worth his salt does, especially in this day and age when nobody pays scouts.
Given a choice, and I'll make it a simple analogy as a more difficult one wouldn't be understood by some, would you rather work as manager of 'Poundland' in Bradford or 'Harvey Nicks' in Hull? Considering the vast difference in wages and the fact he'd be offered a minimum 3 year contract if he took the job it really is a no-brainer. If PT does nothing else than clear out the deadwood he will still have done us a massive favour by putting right some wrongs and giving the next man( Abbott) a decent platform to start from.
I hope that Taylor does stay as he is the right man for our job and could do exactly the same here as he did at Hull. I have heard rumours though that he won't be staying after this 3 month spell, I hope those rumours are wrong.

Why shouldn't Peter Taylor be interested in the Hull job?
The people who run Bradford City Football Club have, in their wisdom, only told Taylor that he is a short-term appointment until the end of the season.
Also in that time they also see fit to interview further for the managers job at VP.
So, my friends, in that case it's 'every man for himself - look after number one'.
However, should Messrs Lawn & Rhodes see just a miniscule of sense they will sort out Peter Taylor's position with immediate effect.

No need to worry! (Hopefully). Judging by the national newspapers etc. Iain Dowie is favourite to take on the job at Hull.
So, come on Messrs Rhodes & Lawn, get Taylor on a lenghty contract, so he can take us upwards and onwards!! CTID

Why shouldn't PT look at other jobs hull or anybody? At the end of the day before he even took training Mark Lawn was saying how City were free to look at other managers to poss take over in the summer. If Taylor goes it will be a massive own goal by Lawn and one which might come back to bite himin the a$$

I guess you are being sarcastic here, however, Jose Morinho was only being interviewed today and he said that he had been watching a DVD of Chelsea. He said he watched it 7 times, would rewind it, analyse it and look for theor weaknesses.
People don't realise that this happens from top to bottom.
Anyone care to slag Jose for watching DVD's of his opponents?
Stuart is not alone, wont be the first, last, worst or greatest at it. He was doing what other managers do.

Just been reading the newspaper in hull and they think mark huges is the favourate for the hull job. There are many other contenders but peter taylor is not mentioned once and i really hope that anyone else gets the hull job instead of taylor. We need him at our city.....
