Bulls 22 Wigan 20

The Bulls produced an utterly unbelieveable comeback to stun league leaders Wigan at Grattan Stadium.

Seemingly dead and buried when they went in 20-0 down at the break, Bradford launched the most unexpected of comebacks to snatch the points with almost the last play of the game.

Glenn Hall powered over the line in the last minute and Matt Orford added the conversion to seal a 22-20 win.

Following an indifferent first half, Orford had been key to the comeback, at the centre of everything good in the second half.

The scrum half had a hand in the build up to Brett Kearney's try early in the second half and then scored himself, converting both to cut the gap to eight.

He then doubled his personal try tally seven minutes from time before Hall sent the Bulls faithful into raptures.

It had all seemed so unlikely after Darrell Goulding, Harrison Hansen, Sam Tomkins and Pat Richards had touched down during a dominant first half from the Warriors.

But the Bulls showed incredible resilience to seal a win that lifts them to seventh in Super League with three wins from five.

Bulls: Dave Halley; Jason Crookes, Paul Sykes, Chris Nero, Stuart Reardon; Brett Kearney, Matt Orford; Nick Scruton, Heath L'Estrange, Andy Lynch, Jamie Langley, Elliott Whitehead, Steve Menzies. Interchange: Wayne Godwin, Mike Worrincy, Craig Kopczak, Glenn Hall.

Wigan: Amos Roberts; Darrell Goulding, Martin Gleeson, George Carmont, Pat Richards; Sam Tomkins, Thomas Leuluai; Stuart Fielden, Mark Riddell, Andy Coley, Harrison Hansen, Joel Tomkins, Sean O'Loughlin. Interchange: Phil Bailey, Paul Deacon, Eamon O'Carroll, Iafeta Paleaaesina.

well done bulls, hard luck wigan, arrogant s*ds, look we've won it by half time, but wait what's this 22 unanswered points, great try glenn, you've hit your form at the right time. did you see their faces at the end, lovely. raising a glass of theakstons to you all . did i say wigans' bubble would burst soon, it did. haitch, won a few jars on this one, took bets at half time with wind in our favour we'd do it.

Cheers viking have one for me. I'm on John Smiths just now but the Special Edradour is coming out soon. I just hope all the fans get behind them now because that was something special.

Really miffed I didnt get home in time to watch it :(
Must've been great for all those who went...and stayed the distance, especially considering the last minute losses we've had to endure.
A big well done to all concerned.

Sweeter than you'll ever know Schoey - i knew there was a reason i went to Odsal in minus 2 temps!

Sorry you missed it mate but if you do get a chance to watch a replay take in the whole game to increase your pleasure of our performance in the second half! Can't wait to watch it back but to be there live to finally feel that feeling having watched so many similar games that have gone the other way in the last two years was so sweet.

Just for now, i'm not going to breakdown our deficiencies of that first half, just savour a great night and toast all involved including McNamara! COYB

well, haitch, a young lady called dal whinnie awaits my goodself, slainge. and then to bed, my better half says i'm somewhat red in face and it isn't the booze. so i'll have to relax, bp must be over the limit. at least the old blood is belting round the system. maybe, it may give my immune system a boost. PS didn't get chucked out of pub, new landlord a wire.

Haitch...memories of the Halifax comeback spring to mind. Think I'll have to order the DVD! It's all the better watching the whole match in a scenario like this...all the smug faces when so far ahead turning to panic & frustration as the gap rapidly diminishes.

Moderation mate but watch Dal, she has legs and they go all the way up!!
I'm still bubbling after watching that. I watched it nearby at my daughters and they had friends down from Keighley who I often took to watch Northern when they were youngsters so we all ended up dancing around the lounge. Great stuff. It can't compete with actually being there but I can say to Craig and co., your voices were loud and clear on Sky and it was a credit to you all.
It's not the time for analysis. Just enjoy the moment guys. Theres more to come!! COYB

Schoey. You just have to watch it mate. Get someone who did to send you the DVD. You are dead right to compare it to the Halifax win. What a day that was and it must be imprinted on Matty Elliotts mind. I'll never forget him pulling that silly face as he pursed his lips and ran his finger over them in a demented way!! Brilliant. There were massive contributions all round but it was the day all the Manly boys came good. Back to the booze!!

Haitch and co, Believe it or not watched it in local bar with couple of pie eaters, they were laughing and joking at half time telling me they would get fifty, they obviously dont know the Odsal Bowl with the wind behind you.Got to admit I was hoping for damage limitation in second half but once we scoredI thought hold on the game is shifting, and boy did it shift. At the final whistle they went without finishing their beer so I had another couple of Guiness.Even the Welsh and Scots were cheering the Bulls on,as we have said Haitch you can never ever forecast what the Bulls are going to do.

The first half looked like a repeat of the Saints game - freezing and the Bulls had no idea on attack.
The second half was superb, the best I have seen at Odsal from the Bulls for a very long time. Well done Bulls Langley and Orford were outstanding and I was wrong!

Well done to the Bulls. It sounded a great game as I only managed to tun in to the second half. It must rank as one of the most pleasing results of the MacNamara era. Fortress Odsal once more?

Fantastic win, great excitement at the end, and one of the best days at Odsal for quite a while. However, i still think we are quite a way short of teams like Wigan at the moment. Their speed, skill and class in the backs was evident in the first half, and we just dont have the talent that they and other teams have. They have the potential to win Super League this year, whereas i just don't think we do. We are obviously competitive, and should savour nights like tonight. Sorry to put a dampener on the celebrations, but just don't think we should get carried away!

Or maybe (as I like to think) the Bulls are just getting to know each other and can only get better. Wigan have been together for some time now and ended up completely outplayed 22-0 second half. It'll take a lot more than you to put a dampener on tonights performance mate.COYB!!

Yes, we are still getting to know each other Haitch, but at the end of the day you can only play with what you've got and sadly the Bulls are lacking in quality in the backs. Sure, we'll win more games, but i'm fairly certain we won't win the Grand Final. I'd certainly be tempted to put a bet on Wigan to win it though. Look, i'm still buzzing from tonight, and hope to be proved wrong, but i'm just being honest in what i see. If we finish in the top 4 i'll be very happy, and very surprised. If Wigan don't finish in the top 4 i'll be even more surprised!

It took a lot of hard work, determination & self belief to grind out the win against all odds after half time. It was a wonderful feeling to score in the last minute as they have managed against us quite a few times over the years! Atmosphere was Electric ( certain periods ) in the second half just like days of old & it was a pleasure to be jumped on at the end ! Well done Bulls, there is a long way to go & we will not get carried away.... But we will savor the moment as we deserve to !!! COYB

Well, what can I say?
I came out of that stadium tonight feeling like we had won the grand final. My body was tingling and my throat was sore. This was a contrasting performance by any stretch of the imagination and to be honest, I expected a mass exodus at half time. The first half was, to say the least, very mediocre and I thought that we were in for another thumping, however, how wrong was I !!.
The team deserve a massive pat on the back for that second half perfomance, despite another woeful perfomance from Mr Bentham and congratulations must go to each and every one of the lads. To be honest looking at the BBC site, I have to agree with Macca that we cannot be doing this every week, but, it goes to show that we have the grit and determination to play the full 80 minutes and if we do that then we will win more games than we lose.
Looking forward to watching the playback.
COME ON YOU BULLS !!!!

Yeah it was a fantastic come back and it did bring back memories of the 13th game in 1997 against Hafilax. From what i saw at half time yes Steve Mac was animated but the next time they showed the dressing room it was ox giving the speech and for me i think it was him who hauled us back into the game, i just wonder had he not been their without his leadership you may have been looking at a loss and a scoreline of say 36-10. HAd this been last season would we have won. we still look vunerable on the left in the 2nd half Reardon had a gap but unfortunately he wasnt fast enough, had that been Halley he would have been away, just a shame we didnt play like that for the full 80. but it was entertaining and good to see some backbone and not see their heads drop and give up a lost cause. A pie eater said to me yesterday oh you call a 7-0 win agianst salford good we will give the bulls a good hiding, i told her she was in dreamland. Like Spanglishbull i was looking for damage limitation at halftime and well done theviking52 for having the belief, i bet those pints were pure joy. And for the 1st time in ages i could hear the crowd they sounded fantastic. All credit to the players in the way they have turned it around since getting booed at the saints game. Its also good to see in 4 halves of rugby we have kept the opposion scoreless in 3 of those, well done lads keep it up and bring on the wire! COYB

Still trying to get my head around what happened! 20 nil down i feared they were gonna run up a cricket score in the 2nd half, they had bombed a few chances in the 1st half too, But then the 2nd half, well what can i say? i am not sure if we were great, they were poor or a combination of both but What a win! Was Great to see the smugness wiped of the pie eaters faces too. i was in full blown sack the coach mode by half time we were so poor but to use the old cliche " its a game of too halves" n.b pass word BODY-DRUG apt, certainly left me on a high last night!

Warming to Macca again Tricky?
Great win, excellent 40mins and there'll be more to come. We need to win but we don't want to burn out before the business end. Wins like that will do for these early weekly rounds. Hats off, we beat a very well drilled Wigan team who won't lose many this season. One big game down, two to go...Warrington away next week...a full 80mins will do!
