Eldwick have successfully defended their Primary Schools’ title at Bingley Swimming Club’s Schools’ Gala at Shipley Pool.

In front of a full house, there was never more than a couple of points at the top, with Eldwick finally defeating Myrtle Park Primary by one point in a thrilling finale to the evening.

Priestthorpe Primary, with a strong Year Five and Six team, came in third.

Myrtle Park did get some reward, however, by winning the Primary School Mixed Relay Championship.

In the Secondary Schools’ event, a strong team from Bingley Grammar School did the double, winning both the main gala and the Secondary School Mixed Relay Championship.

Parkside School were second and Beckfoot School third.

Before the start of the gala, William Broadbent from Eldwick Primary and Olivia Horsfield from Priestthorpe represented Bingley Swimming Club in making a presentation to the NSPCC of money raised at the galas.

The final was sponsored by the Yorkshire/Clydesdale Bank and the Yorkshire Building Society, and special guests were Mary and Arthur Pitchforth from the organising club, and Sarah Tarpey from the NSPCC.
