Keighley ace Tom Moses put in a superb performance at the World Cyclo-Cross Championships in the Czech Republic.
He crossed the line 36th and best of the four-man Great Britain team in the junior event.
The 21-year-old Oakworth rider was up against the best competitors from across the globe but crossed the line only 3min 24sec behind the eventual winner.
Professional Tomas Paprstka, from the host nation, just overcame Frenchman Julian Alaphillipe in a thrilling sprint finish at the snowy venue.
All the British riders in the junior race had to contend with snow, ice and crashes. Moses’ team-mate Luke Gray was first to hit the deck but recovered well to secure 37th spot just behind Moses.
Meanwhile, 19-year-old Burley in Wharfedale rider Scott Thwaites has been named in Team Endura, one of the country’s top road racing squads.
Thwaites, who was recently crowned British Universities Cyclo-Cross Champion, was one of 15 riders on show at the team’s official launch.
The Endura team were on the scene last season but have been strengthened for the 2010 season with several good signings, including former national champion and three-time Olympic rider Rob Hayles.
They begin their programme with the Tour of the Mediterranean next week, then on to a training camp in Nice, Italy.
