Rusedski serves up a treat at Ilkley Lawn Tennis Club

Former British number one Greg Rusedski is set to officially open the refurbished Ilkley Lawn Tennis and Squash Club.

Rusedski will pay a visit to the club on Saturday, January 16 after their recent £700,000 overhaul.

The event will start at 2pm when Greg’s trademark huge serve will be given a speed test.

Adults and juniors will then have the chance to test their serve against the speed gun throughout the afternoon, with prizes handed out to the fastest serving male and female juniors and adults.

A selection of the club’s talented junior players will also get the chance to hit some balls with Rusedski before the former BBC Sports Personality of the Year takes part in a question and answer session.

Rusedski will also attend a canapes and cocktail event for club members in the evening.

Appleyard Jaguar Bradford are kindly supporting the event and there will be an opportunity to drive the award-winning Jaguar XF.

Club chair Val Kerr said: “We are really excited about welcoming Greg to the club. The day should be an inspiration to all our tennis players, both young and old.”

Ilkley Lawn Tennis and Squash Club was established 113 years ago and has hosted international events, such as the JM Glendinning Group Ilkley Open International Tennis Tournament.

The club has five indoor tennis courts, 14 grass courts and six all-weather floodlit courts, five squash courts and a fully-fitted gym.
