Moses brothers rush to double

Keighley ace Tom Moses was crowned best junior after a winning performance at the North of England Cyclo-Cross Championship at Thornes Park in Wakefield.

The Team Wallis CHH rider crossed the line ahead of fellow Keighley rider, former British champion Chris Young, who was crowned veterans’ champion after holding off long-time rival Noel Clough (Fietsen Tempo) from Northallerton.

Former Bingley rider Rob Jebb took fourth spot in a senior race won by Cumbrian visitor Paul Oldham, who is the current leader of the National Trophy Series, while Bradford Olympic’s Tim Baldwin was eighth.

Oldham took victory by around 30 seconds from Preston’s Ian Bibby of the Halfords Bikehut squad, while MTS Cyclesport rider Stuart Wearmouth, from Bishop Auckland, was third.

Otley’s Adela Carter continued her good form, the Crosstrax rider being crow-ed women’s champion, while Bradford RCC’s Phil Helliwell took bronze in the over-60s race.

Making it a family double was Joseph Moses, who won the youth race in the colours of Bronte Wheelers.

North East visitor Adam Martin took second, JD Cycles’ Ed McParland from Bradley was third. Ribble Valley Juniors’ Zoe Armstrong was top girl.

Billy Harding, of Paul Milnes RT, was fastest of the under-14s, beating Seacroft Wheelers’ Seb Marsh into second, while Manchester rider Alex Braybrook (SportCity Velo) was third.
