For the second year running, the Bulls are shunning the sunshine for a bit of good old Yorkshire grit.
Steve McNamara has decided against going abroad for warm-weather training and instead his squad are heading up into the hills.
The Bulls departed for Ribblehead in the Yorkshire Dales yesterday to take on the Three Peaks and do some vital team bonding.
Apart from Matt Orford, who is currently waiting on his visa application, all of the players will take part in a full day of hiking and activities during a two-night stay.
“The trip’s important for a couple of reasons,” explained McNamara.
“First and foremost, we haven’t quite got the whole group together yet but we’re there or thereabouts and we’re going away so the new players and the existing players can get to know each other a bit better.
“We go out there in the hills and anyone who’s been out there in the peaks knows what it can be like at this time of year!
“We get some walking into us and we’ll also do a little bit of social. It’s an opportunity for the first time in pre-season we can get together as a group and go on a bit of a trip with each other.
“We’ve got some little things planned for them when they get out there but it’s really a couple of days away from the normal training environment to spend some time with each other.
“The walking is tough, there’s no two ways about it, but when you’re out there walking for hours on end, you talk to each other and get to know each other a lot better.
“We enjoyed the experience last year. It’s a fantastic venue and a great place for us.”
