Glenn Hall hopes a fresh start with Bradford will allow him to put personal tragedy behind him.
The big Aussie forward and his wife Kylie were left heartbroken following the stillbirth of their first child in September.
Lachlan Mark Hall died in the womb as the Bulls second-rower was with his Manly team-mates preparing to face Melbourne Storm in the first round of the NRL play-offs.
But that painful blow did not deter Hall from making the bold move to West Yorkshire. Instead he believes it could be just what he and Kylie need.
Hall said: “This has been something for us to focus on. It’s still tough for us and we were both sad to leave but this allows us to move forward and leave all that behind.
“When it happened, Bradford and Manly were really supportive. I received loads of e-mails, texts and phone calls of support from Steve McNamara, which was great.”
The move to England will be made easier by a host of former colleagues joining him at Odsal.
Hall played with Matt Orford, Steve Menzies and Heath L’Estrange at Manly and he is also looking forward to spending time with an old friend living over the Pennines.
Wigan hooker Mark Riddell was Hall’s best man for his wedding to Kylie in 2008 and Hall returned the favour earlier this month.
Hall said: “I’m good mates with Mark and he’s been a great help, letting me know what’s going on in Super League.
“I was the best man at his wedding and he was the best man at mine. I’m really looking forward to playing against him.”
