South Bradford’s junior section can look back on a successful season as the club look to gain Golf Mark accreditation next year.
Not only did they win the Bradford Union Division Three title, they enjoyed individual success at district level.
Tom Hall was crowned Bradford Junior Matchplay champion after beating Hollins Hall’s Chris Howe 6&4. He also added club titles, the KE Darvill and Ridy Scratch trophies, while team-mate Chris Benn was the Bradford Union nine-hole champion.
H H Kellet trophy winner Ben Cheetham was part of the Bradford junior squad, along with Hall and Benn, who won the Yorkshire Inter-District title.
Other juniors to earn silverware last season included Elliott Webster (RGW Gross & Handicap trophy), Ryan Patel (Annual Medal), Adam Burch and Matt Robinson (Earnshaw Trophy), Ben Walsh (Vera Madden Trophy) and Jack Hall (Captain’s Prize and Eight to 15 36-hole champion). Rebecca Jackson won the LCGA golden bear competition and 11-year-old Ben Crow was the youngest ever winner of the Stansfield Cup.
Golf Mark is a national scheme run by the English Golf Union that recognises junior and beginner friendly golf facilities.
South Bradford’s professional, Paul Cooke, gives free lessons as part of the club’s vital junior development programme.
