Keighley Cougars hooker Jamaine Wray joins a trio of Bradford Dudley Hill players in the Jamaican side that makes their international bow against the USA tomorrow.
The fledging team’s first competitive match at such a level sees them battle it out for the Atlantic Cup on the north coast of Florida. Head coach Dean Thomas, who is conditioner at Sheffield Eagles, said: “We are working with an inexperienced squad for our first international and I know all our players will show pride and passion in their quest to give Jamaica another sport to be proud of.”
Dudley Hill’s Steve Pryce, Danny Thomas and Duane Nelson were among the contigent of players – mainly from Co-Operative League clubs, plus Harlequins’ Lamont Bryan – who flew out from the UK earlier this week to join up with the rest of the Jamaica-based squad.
