Trainee stuntwoman Ashley Scott was the best all-round performer for Leeds Karate Academy as they picked up 33 medals during the Karate Union of Great Britain Northern Regional Championships in Sunderland.
Scott, who last month won silver at the World Karate Championships in Mexico, captained the ladies A team to gold, took silver in the senior female kumite and silver in the senior female kata.
Instructor Nick Heald, a sixth dan, said: “I am delighted with the results. The whole squad performed excellently and everybody competing was a credit to the academy.”
The Leeds club took 53 competitors to the event and there were gold medals for David Wright, Ryan Tucker, Mell Finlay and James Brown.
Scott was joined by Zoe Starr and Natasha Balyckyi in the ladies team event and met old rivals Halewood in the final, where they took the title with a 2-1 win.
