Bradford United Scorpions must have felt it wasn’t going to be their day in the Keybury League.
They hit the woodwork three times in the opening five minutes against Burley A.
However, they didn’t need to wait much longer before breaking the deadlock, Oliver Holcroft netting in the seventh minute.
This then opened the floodgates, Holcroft scoring again after 12 minutes and captain Felan Panwar making it 3-0.
Burley replied after 18 minutes but the three-goal cushion was quickly restored when Panwar got on the end of an excellent solo run from debutant Hamas Khan.
The half was finished by Holcroft completing his hat-trick but the 5-1 half-time margin could have been greater, Jack Brimacombe and Khan also going close.
Scorpions also dominated the second half, Panwar securing his hat-trick two minutes in after an excellent solo run and shot.
Not content with that, Panwar added his fourth as Burley came up against the disciplined defence of Regan Davidson, Jack Fairlie and goalkeeper Riley Healey.
Scorpions finished off the game by adding further goals from Ali Arshad and Thomas Marshall for a 9-1 scoreline in what was their best performance of the season. Man of the match was Khan.
Bradford United’s under-eights B were also goal hungry in their first home game of the season against Burley B.
After 19 minutes, United were 5-0 up, Joe Waters (3), Kaylum Johnson and Jack Wright netting.
Second-half goals came from Stefan Giangregorio (penalty) and two more from Waters, one from the spot. Haseeb Alam still had time to make two fine saves to keep hard-working Burley at bay.
East Bowling Allstars lost to a late Leeds Maccabi goal, Ayrton Wright, Adil Mahdi, Ryan Brough, Kieran Henderson and goalkeeper Sam Foord shining for Allstars.
Albion Sports Under-12s, who were missing five regulars, were never in the hunt against Horsforth, going down 7-0 in the Craven, Aire & Wharfe League.
Worse still, Sports conceded two own goals in the opening ten minutes and lost Zain injured five minutes later, meaning they had to play the rest of the match with ten men.
Albion’s stand-in keeper and man of the match Ryan Singh produced several outstanding saves, and they did twice threaten in the second half through Ricky Smith.
Newly-promoted Sandy Lane Under-13 A remain unbeaten, winning 6-2 at home against Queensbury Celtic.
Jeremiah Witter was on the mark again with a hat-trick and other scorers were Alex Sabelli, Joe Carroll and debutant Bradley Corby.
Man of the match was Jordan Trainor but Michael Mountain and Nyle Butt were again outstanding at the back.
Albion Sports bounced back from their previous week’s defeat by thrashing Myrtle Park 13-3, goals coming from Liam Singh (3), Ismail Rehman (3), Marcus Harper (3), Adam Yasin (2), Karamdeep Sari and Ishaq Khan. Abdul Muttalib was man of the match.
Silsden Reds Under-15s were rarely troubled by Undercliffe Celtic Tykes and won 8-0.
Luke Wilson opened the scoring, Josh Rodgers (2) and Adam Cooper adding to the tally.
Further goals came from Jamie England, Jed Cooper and Rodgers, who completed his first hat-trick for the Reds. Man of the match was Mark Smith.
Wilsden won a thrilling Liam Daley Cup tie 6-5 at Keighley Shamrocks but were 3-0 down and looking disinterested after 15 minutes.
Adam Vaux pulled a goal back but Shamrocks scored again soon after. However, the game was much closer now, Wilsden pulling another back to make the half-time score 4-2.
They started the second half very strongly and an individual goal from Callum Whitehouse, followed by another strike from Sam Murphy, levelled matters at 4-4.
The game was not level for long, however, as Shamrocks took the lead again but Wilsden were generally looking stronger now and Murphy completed his hat-trick to make it 5-5 and Luca Zenti finished off a move with Vaux with what proved to be the winner.
Callum Whitehouse was Wilsden’s man of the match for his strong central midfield performance.
