Three members of Leeds Karate Academy – based at Springfield Commercial Centre in Farsley – won medals at the World Shotokan Championships in Cancun, Mexico.
Assistant club instructor Ashley Scott won silver in the senior ladies’ kumite event.
Ashley, a 2nd dan black belt, beat competitors from Sweden, Mexico, USA and Poland on the way to the final.
Ryan Tucker (2nd dan black belt) took the bronze in the 18-20 years individual kumite and the 18-20 team event for England.
He was also part of the senior England team which retained the world title, beating the Czech Republic in the final.
David Wright won silver as part of the England junior team in the kata event and was part of the 18-20 years team that won the bronze.
