Steve McNamara believes talented Dave Halley can perform the dynamic Brett Hodgson roving role for his Bulls side.

Aussie talisman Hodgson has been a revelation for Huddersfield this year, coming up with some killer plays from full back.

But Bradford’s own full back has recently started to impose himself more, catching the eye in Sunday’s win over the Giants.

Halley got his hands on the ball plenty, acting like an extra half-back to produce some telling passes as the Bulls stunned the Challenge Cup finalists.

McNamara admits he wants more of the same from the local product, who hopes to play his way into England’s Four Nations plans this autumn.

“We’ve been trying to get him doing more of that,” said the Odsal chief.

“Dave’s a bundle of energy when he’s playing like that and I think when you see the way Brett Hodgson plays the game for Huddersfield, that’s what we want.

“For me, Hodgson has been THE most influential player in Super League this year and showed that again on Sunday.

“There were some tremendous touches and he has brought so much to the Giants.

“We’re not grooming Dave to be the next Brett Hodgson, don’t get me wrong, but I certainly wouldn’t be too unhappy if he went down that same route.”

Halley, 22, was at fault, ironically, for Hodgson’s second-minute opening try but then proved crucial as the Bulls bounced back to take a 24-6 interval lead.

McNamara said: “He’s going all right. I thought he was off his game at the start – Dave came up with a little bit of a positional error – but soon fixed that up and did well for us.”

Meanwhile, Bulls winger Semi Tadulala could be banned until the second game of NEXT season if found guilty of an alleged offence at this evening’s RFL disciplinary committee meeting.

The club’s top scorer must answer a charge of behaving in a manner contrary to the true spirit of the game by pulling the hair of Huddersfield prop Eorl Crabtree during the 28-18 win.

The grade C offence carries a suspension of up to four matches, which could see the Fijian ruled out until 2010.

Bradford host Catalans Dragons on Sunday as they bid for a third straight win, knowing they must beat the Frenchmen, Salford at home and gain victory in their final-day trip to Hull FC to stand any chance of making the play-offs.

Catalans themselves are sweating as their second row Cyrille Gossard has been charged with a Grade C reckless grapple or strangle tackle on Hull winger Tom Briscoe in their victory on Saturday.

Both players were referred to the disciplinary committee by the RFL match review panel.

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats scrum half Danny Brough has been charged with using foul and abusive language to a match official following his dismissal against Celtic Crusaders and he too may be banned for four games.
