Rovers 32 Bulls 12

Sloppy Bulls fell to a fourth successive defeat for the first time this season to see their faint play-off hopes extinguished.

Steve McNamara’s side can still mathematically do it but on the back of an error-strewn performance like this afternoon’s they have no chance.

They dominated the first half but should have done more with their possession instead of throwing it away and went in 16-12 behind.

Dave Halley and Mick Worrincy bagged tries, with Paul Deacon and Paul Sykes adding conversions, but that was as good as it got as the mistakes intensified after the restart.

Hull KR -with Michael Dobson pulling the strings and England full back Shaun Briscoe in awesome form - capitalised, running in another three tries to strengthen their hold on fourth place.

Macca says defence is our problem, today we did not score a single point for near on a hour.I would say we have a problem with our attack to.In other words we have a problem with these players or to be blunt Macca ,we are absolute garbage, you included.

Macca

“We have done a lot of soul searching to try and find the answers to that. I think we have now.”

Riiggghhht, of course you have sorted them out.

Another 30 points conceded, another defeat another week of misery, just look at what we have become.

It's now about time Peter Hood stood up and acted and got the cancer sorted out.

Not good enough.

I assume Frank and Ernest didn't turn up then! Come on Hood DO SOMETHING NOW! If you haven't the bottle or willingness to do something or even make a statement then you can walk too. This is no longer just about Macca. The whole club is in a mess.

is anyone honestly surprised that we lost ? and you have to wonder if another win this season is possible, but as long as the balance sheet isn't in the red at the end of the year Hood & co will consider it a succesful season.

Sorry Guys, just can't think of anything to say that has not already been said a hundred times.

Is Mr Hood thick?? Is Macca thick skinned?

Macca has to walk and Hood has to come up with a strategy to turn this around.(an unfortunate choice of words) Macca has "turned us around" that many times this season we're all dizzy.
One thing is for sure Nobby will have all guns blazing next week and then there's a tricky trip to whipping boys Celtic.
The season is well and truly over.

Wither The Bulls

A view from The Touchdown

Well, that’s it then, the season is all but shot.

Talking about shooting, there are one or two individuals that ought to be put up against the wall; Hood and McNamara spring to mind. Quote of the week from Steve McNamara, “… there were a whole lot of positives to take out of the game.” (Stock phrase number 32).

Thankfully this is a closed competition, but on this years performance, it’s no flight of fancy to think that The Bulls will be relegated to The Co-operative Championship when the Superleague franchise comes up for review in 2012. That, rather than his beloved sporting village, will be Peter Hood’s legacy.

Hood may see himself as a man of vision, but it’s tunnel vision, and for the rest of us it’s a tunnel of despair.

Steve McNamara will be the fall guy in the end, but the malaise that has affected the club in recent years cannot be laid at McNamara’s door alone. From the tattered flags and the broken bulbs in the scoreboard, to lacklustre performances on the field and the defeats snatched from the jaws of victory, it’s a deep malaise, it’s systemic and, if it’s not a contradiction in terms, it goes to the top.

Time to start rebuilding; I want the pride, I want the passion. If you can’t deliver that Mr Hood, hand the reigns to someone who can.

Thats 'em. They also whipped Wigan and Salford but are the only team to have a worst points against than Bulls.

I was of course referring to the games they've lost. If we talk too much about who they 'whipped' we might even start saying Bulls whipped Saints, Leeds etc., Then we would be starting to have ourselves on!!!

Bradford boss Steve McNamara:

"I think discipline cost us in the first half and I thought we were looking quite strong and OK, and then every time we got them where we wanted we let them off the hook.

"The first try we conceded came on the back of us being in complete control. I am now concerned about us getting up and running for next week. I still think there were a whole lot of positives to take out of the game. We were in control at the start and the stats will show we were in Hull KR territory for most of the game.

"It's not all doom and gloom but we were way off the mark during the second half apart from the initial 10-minute period. Certainly things are not going for us and we have to stay strong. Hopefully the tide will turn."

This is the BBC quote from Macca

Are you on planet earth ? our season is well & truly over we have no chance of reaching the play offs & no chance off competing with any of the top sides. We are a pathetic example of how a club can go from glory to rock bottom. I don`t blame you Macca your a victim too of this clubs lack of vision. You need to move on & hope someone with the vision strength & accument can take this club where it needs to be & should be. Please do the best thing for all & resign none of the supports want you as coach & no one in superleague respects you as a coach so save your own face & that of our great club & resign.Hood you should hang your head in shame.Security word ride-west in your case macca ride east.

i emailed our great manager (snigger snigger) on tues night and he replied two days later. he thanked me for my support of our great club and said himself, the players, and the rest of the staff, were busy trying to rebuild the club from the bottom (the bottom being the accademy). he also went on to mention that a lot of the problems that they have financially are from the previous management during what he called and i quote "the boom and bust period" and that its taking a lot longer than they thought it would to sort out. Im not too sure about the response i got but thought i'd share some of it with all of you. gutted about the result today and it hurts to say it but i dont think we"ll be up to scratch next season never mind the back end of this one. will

I was at Hull KR today and just as gutted with the result as anyone else who travelled over. I thought at half time we were still in it...we blew a strong chance just before half time which could have changed the balance of the game. I felt we were badly treated by ref...Deacon taken out yet again off the ball...who saw it?? Not the ref! Second half...just too many errors but I still saw effort and commitment from the players...Talk about protests at Wigan game are stupid. That will just unsettle the players who have to go out and put their bodies on the line..they still need support from us.....we have to back the players who go out on the field...I know it's tough but don't give up on the team! Come on you Bulls!

Turn enough corners and you always end up where you started, which in Maccas case was at the bottom!.

Yet another week, yet another disappointment. I'm sorry to say but it will be yet another week of everyone on here having a justifiable moan about Macca and about how him and Hood should leave the club and it will be yet another week of nothing but one player and or Macca himself saying we have turned a corner, we are on the up, we have worked on ourselves and yet we all know that are talking s**t as usual. I cannot agree with happygoluckylass at all on this. You cannot expect fans to turn out on Sunday and support the lads who are not fit for the shirt they wear on their backs. I'm afraid that 10000 Bulls fan could turn up next week and they could either boo them onto and off the pitch or they could cheer and give them a load of support but my confidence in this once great team is shot and I'm afraid a loss next week is inevitable until the "chairman and the board" actually get their fingers out and start doing something. If what Macca says is true about the "boom and bust" era then Burgess will be sold and it will prove to me what I've thought about the club all along. They have no money and as a result have to sign down-and-outers. I read the news every single day with the hope that the Bulls are going to do something practical about this situation instead of the constant drivel we are told every single week but I fear that it will be yet another week of silence coming out of Odsal apart from the usual rubbish we are used to. Maybe now Macca will start bringing in the youngsters who actually want to play football. Take a look at City...they have hardly any players on a high salary, hardly any with experience...oh and they won....take note from McCall McNamara bring in some youth...they can't do any worse than the lot you put out every week. Case closed

Right ........enough is enough. I am organizing a protest for the Wigan game . Anybody interested meet me at the top of the stairs at the popular side of the ground (where the old hut is that used to be a betting stall) ten mind before match. We will find a spot on the terraces to all gather and make it clear we want Macca and Hood OUT ! If we do not do this now it will be too late. And might I add win or lose we must demand Macca out and Hood out as even a win just papers over the cracks. I am heartbroken by what is happening to the club I have supported all my life. Anybody willing to meet me ?

I remember saying, way back, that there is a lack of transparency at Odsal. Quotes blaming everything on the previous regime must now be considered a deflectionary tactic as we have seen no improvement in the four years of the present regime let alone any sense of direction or purpose. I think what is clear is that financial stability is paramount at the club. However laudible this is it is misguided as, with dwindling support and loss of sponsorship, the club is bankrupting itself. Comments that the club is building bottom up (whilst detroying itself from the top down!) again has no evidence in practice - very few young, home-grown players in the first team and very few likely to be given a chance. It is inconceivable that next season the academy are going to be promoted en-bloc to become a successful first team. It just isn't going to happen. The Bulls, pioneers of Summer Rugby, have been left behind by the mismanagement of Peter Hood et al. The sad thing is that we can bluster on here but do little else. Peter Hood is happy with Mr MacNamara and the loss of over 5000 regular paying customers.
The game against Wigan next week is very interesting. Old against new; soon to be retrenched against firmly entrenched; glory days against dismal days. It is definitely one that MacNamara should have no problems getting the Bulls motivated. Look at the comparisons that are going to be made as Nobby leads his wounded, but victorious, soldiers into battle against his old, "Hooded" enemy in his former fiefdom. Now this is the game that Macca cannot afford to lose. His entire raison d'etre is to show that he is the finished model not Nobby. Let the proceedings commence!

You may think its a good post.
I see a big U turn by Tricky. If he's not careful he'll be turning more corners than Macca himself.
Didn't I warn him of the Bulls financial plight the other day only for him to tell me it was pure conjecture?

Sadly, for me, i was one of the strange few, who despite my better judgement, decided to go to the game yesterday afternoon.

I knew when i got up yesterday morning that i was wasting my time. I knew that what i would witness from a once great team would not justify the time, money and effort i was about to invest.

I knew that this side were not mentally tough enough to handle a crowd as hostile as the KR faithful were going to be (who by the way reminded me of the baying, thronged, noisy hordes we used to see on the terraces at Odsal).

With all that taken into account, i don't actually know why i ventured to East Hull but what i do know now is that enough is enough.

Yesterday will be my last away game of the season and quite frankly, if i didn't have a season ticket, it would be my last game full stop.

I know that some have called into question the loyalty of fans that post on this forum, 'backstabbers' i believe one fan called us but actually, we are the fans who care most. We are the fans that are hurting, disconsolate, embarassed, bemused and not a little angry and despite it all still turn up to watch that shower, well i'm sorry, no longer.

I will see out my season ticket but until this unfit coaching staff is removed from post, i will not spend another penny on merchandise, tickets or anything else associated with the club this season or next.

I will not waste my hard earned money, watching a team that has little skill, flair, pace or invention. I will not spend my money watching a team that is physically weak but more importantly mentally weaker and unable to at least give us, the fans who help to pay their wages, their full commitment and concentration for 80 minutes a week.

I look forward now to the future of this club with trepedation not with any hope.

We have a coaching staff that is clearly out of its depth despite any good intentions. They have and continue to be unable to bring out the best in their team or even inspire any improvement over a season and i'm afraid have left only a legacy of gradual decline in their three years in charge.

We have a team that is not fit enough to wear the shirt in body, in mind or in skill. It is no good anymore simply blaming the previous regime. Whilst i have no doubt that mistakes were made, this is now McNamara's team. This is the man who has brought in players such as Sheriffe, Platt, Nero (bits of this season excepted), Jeffries and Sykes and deemed them worthy of long term contracts at one of the most successful clubs in the world game!

We have a Board that has allowed the rot to set in on and off the pitch. Unable or unwilling to see what is staring them in the face out on the park every week. Seemingly unmoved by the loss of nearly 5000 supporters and the revenue that loss takes with it and not even willing to do the little things right such as fixing the damaged score board, which has flickered to a slow death for the last three years, a metaphore for the decay which surrounds the club.

Enough is enough, a change is needed, not just to the coaching staff although that would be a start but it's also time for the Board to actively pursue a new Chairman with vision, strength of character and perhaps a little bit of money behind him. This may be difficult i know but if a buyer can be found for a basket case like Southampton FC, there has to be somebody out there who would take on one of the most successful clubs in the elite level of its sport.
