McLaren in City exit

Midfielder Paul McLaren has had his contract terminated by Bradford City by mutual consent.

McLaren joined the Bantams last summer on a free transfer from Tranmere Rovers, making 35 appearances, scoring three goals.

The Telegraph & Argus understands he already has a club lined up and a deal is expected to go through in the next 24 hours.

Fantastic news as long as we can bring in a replacement. This leaves us with.... 1 recognised central midfielder (2 if you count Brandon)!

This (together with Lee's departure) should free up enough money to bring in 3 or 4 decent players. Even if we cut the wage budget by 40%, their combined wages were allegedly around £5500 a week, meaning we have £3300 a week to work with.

This should bring in 3 decent players on good wages or 4 players on lower wages.

Depends on who McCall brings in before it's good news.If its free transfers from Macclesfield or Steve -I can't be bothered -Jones then the squad will be poorer, especially if Colbeck goes as I'm sure he will. Starting to lose the will to live.

good news all round today with Mcalren going, Arison going andmaybe a Delph transfer on the horizon (although admitedly thats been going for some time now).
I personally dont think we got the best out of Mclaren why not I dont know, maybe because he doesn;t get enough time on the ball as higher leagues).
I hve a feeling we've been waiting for this to happen to brng Jones in but i hope we don't spend much of this saving on Jones because we neeed 3 or 4 more players as said above.

Just need Parker to get a word on the Brandon situation now........more chance of me being the next midfield maestro.

Paul McLaren came to us as potentially our 'best signing' of last summer but it never turned out like that! For whatever reason, he never made his 'presence felt' and Law/Furman looked far better players. Now he's gone, I hope we can build a decent midfield for 2009/10 with any money that's available. We've missed out on Law/Furman, so like last year, we'll be hoping any new signings 'come good' but there are no guarantees, so we're in the same position as last year (perhaps a 'level' down on that because we've less money to spend!!)Will the new players turn out to be a 'Lee or McLaren' or a 'Law or Furman'???!!! So..it's 'fingers crossed time'!!!

Reported on SKYSports on 25 June.

"Notts County have held positive talks with an unnamed duo regarding moves to Meadow Lane.

The pair, a defender and a midfielder, met with Magpies manager Ian McParland on Thursday to discuss a possible agreement.

Both are now weighing up their options, but County are confident they have done enough to secure a double deal".

We already know the defender turned out to be Lee, I just wonder if the midfielder was McLaren? His decision today will explain his absence from training the other day. Perhaps he was ironing out a few details with County.

Agree with the first part of your post, but definately not the Colbeck part, we'd be much better off without him, all he does is run around alot with no end product, classic case of all pace and no talent.

Where do you get this rubbish from? Almost every day, you come on here with your transfer rumours (usually Peterborough players) and none of them are true.

I believe the above is false too!

Never heard of Wayne Mardle (do we want another waynus?).

I take it the players mentioned can 'flight' a ball in, 'arrow' their shots into the 'bullseye' and all get into 'double' figures. As long as we finish 'double top', I will be happy. Get Bobby George signed up LOL

And I assume the manager bringing them to the club on loan is Colin Todd!

Doyle may have played for City in the past, but he is now on the fringe of Hull's first team.

Holmes, also an ex-loan player, is a key component in Southampton's bid to get out of L1 at the first attempt.

Can you really see either coming back?!?!

Was the keeper Russell Howarth by any chance?

If you are going to try and start some rumours, then please make them plausible.

Lafferty was a Burnley regular last season until he transferred to Rangers for something like £2 million.
