Brighouse Town are out of the traps this weekend with their first pre-season friendly.
Town face a visit from FC Halifax Town and their management team of Neil Aspin and former Bradford Park Avenue boss Trevor Storton are intending to bring their entire squad.
Town manager Mark Brier said: “Neil has requested roll on roll off substitutions because he wants a lot of players to get some game time and that suits me, because we have a 20-man squad for the game.”
The St Giles Road ground will be ready, thanks in part to volunteer work and partly due to the weather.
Brier added: “The recent rain has done the pitch no harm at all, the groundsman is rubbing his hands.
“The ground itself is also looking very neat and tidy, that is because we have had all the players in over the summer helping the committeemen doing jobs.
“We broke the lads down into small working parties and handed out paint brushes and sweeping brushes. It was like an audition session for a new Karate Kid movie – wax on, wax off, paint the fence in up-strokes and down-strokes – it was quite comical really.
“It actually benefited us more than we imagined because it has really helped with breaking down barriers and team bonding – especially at this time, with so many fresh faces around the place.”
