Ghyll Royd School from Ben Rhydding were runners-up in the Yorkshire regional final of the Asda Kwik Cricket Competition at Castleford Cricket Club.
They had to give best to Altofts Primary from Wakefield, who now go forward to represent the region in the national finals at Headingley Carnegie next week.
The schools had all done well to get to the regional final, qualifying through their district finals over the past few weeks. The sides were split into four groups of four, with the winners all playing against each other. Losing semi-finalists were Harehills and Meltham, The Asda Wakefield store handed out healthy snacks and presented the children with their medals and certificates.
Yorkshire cricket development manager Carl Parkin said: “It was a fantastic day, with some great cricket and played in a good spirit, so well done to all involved.”
Over 12,000 primary schools and about 130,000 boys and girls took part in the competition as a whole.
