Bradford Bulls have delayed a decision on whether to extend hooker Julien Rinaldi’s loan.
“Julien has a foot injury and we’re waiting for further news,” explained Bulls head coach Steve McNamara.
The French international suffered the injury in the second half against St Helens last month.
“It is a bit sore but it is getting better,” said Rinaldi, who joined the Bulls for two months in late April as cover for crocked duo Wayne Godwin and Paul Deacon.
A scan soon after the match, however, revealed that the 30-year-old’s foot wasn’t broken.
Former Catalans Dragons and Harlequins player Rinaldi has put in some sparky displays for the Bulls since arriving in England after playing for Manly’s feeder club, the Sunshine Coast Eagles.
Godwin, meanwhile, was delighted to come through his first competitive outing after 15 weeks out with a broken leg.
He was part of the Bulls’ Reserve Grade team that defeated Leeds Rhinos 24-20 at Headingley on Friday tea-time.
Godwin, who scored one of the Bulls’ four tries, said: “It was great to get 70 minutes under my belt and it went well.
“I enjoyed playing alongside some of the youngsters like Steve Crossley and Kieran Hyde, and we had experience too with the likes of Michael Platt and Jode Sheriffe.
“It may have been Reserve Grade but it is always nice to beat Leeds, and the lads were buzzing afterwards, but I felt like I had been hit by a bus when I got up on Saturday morning I was so stiff!”

So many experts! Fact is we have 3 hookers...why would we keep Rinaldi? Godwin is coming back, Newton is playing well, Rinaldi was a useful stop-gap. And everyone keeps banging on about playing young lads, why keep a 30-year old hooker when we have 2 already? As for Wing, 1. He probably won't come anyway, 2. It's probably a stunt down under to get him a big juicy contract and 3. He didn't like playing Hooker for the Roosters, hence he moved to Souths so he could get his hands on No.6 jersey. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a player like Wing in a Bulls shirt, it would certainly silence some critics. But I think we need a decent Centre and a bit of underpinning in the backrow situation first!

Underpinning in the backrow??Crikey Adey what do you mean by that? Morrison,Menzies Langley, Cook, Burgess, Solomona Worrincy,Donaldson, Whitehead. Thats 3 complete backrows. How many more do they need? You could even add the kid Olbison and Nero too. Should Wing come (and I agree with your scepticism) He would surely have to play halfback. But it's also imperative halfbacks and centres are the priority. They are the obvious weak areas. Fact is you don't need to be an 'expert' to see it.

What I meant was, we are already overloaded in that area and the only way forward would be to sack 3 or 4. I doubt that will happen and until it does I can't see adding another will improve the clubs status. I'd certainly like to see Macca improve elsewhere (or maybe that should read "go elsewhere")

I'm not criticising other's opinions, just stating that whoever Macca signs and doesn't sign, everyone has an opinion...it's easy to sit on here and criticise but would any of us do a better job?
