Guiseley manager Steve Kittrick will be glad when Tuesday arrives and his squad reassembles from their summer recess.
“They have been ringing me and asking ‘when are we back in?’ because they are missing it already,” said Kittrick.
“We will be training at Wakefield Wildcats on Tues-day and then back up at Nethermoor for the first time on Thursday and then again on Saturday.
“We are all looking forward to it, not just the players, because it becomes part of life.”
The Lions have used the facilities of the rugby league outfit for some time as well as their own pitch and the 3G surface adjacent to it.
Wildcats’ Belle View is within range of most of their squad and Kittrick likes the surface.
“It is a lovely pitch, so well looked after by their ground-staff,” added the Guiseley boss.
“Once the season starts we might move to Tuesdays at our place and Thursdays at the Wildcats.
“That is once we are playing Saturdays but obviously the early season brings a lot of midweek games so we will just take it as it comes.”
Kittrick is still formulating his squad for the new campaign and is buoyed by those who are interested in joining the club.
He said: “We are still talking to one or two potential signings. Quite a few players have contacted us and expressed an interest in coming to us which has been very encouraging. They want to play for Guiseley.
“That is how it should be in non-league, people wanting to represent a club because of the way it’s run and the potential that’s there.
“It’s different from chasing a player who wants to know right from the start what money is on offer.
“All of the lads from last year are very keen to get back. It is a short break these days but it is a routine – not just for the players but their families as well. They like the social side of it and coming to the games.
“Like I say it’s a way of life and these people have been involved in football for as long as they can remember.”
