SALTAIRE AA: The canal between Hirst Wood Locks and Saltaire Victoria Road (Bridge 207A) is closed to pleasure anglers for an outside match booking on Sunday. The rivers are still closed except for trout. Tong Park Dam continues to fish well in calm weather. Litter, tins and bait containers must not be discarded on the banks. Keepnets are not allowed at Tong Park Dam. If anyone is seen suspected of poaching, please contact general secretary David Brazendale immediately on 01274-214441 or 07779-747139. KL TACKLE: Result for round one of the KL Summer League, fished at Langwith Lakes, York (27 anglers): 1 Ken Elmes 44lb 1oz; 2 Scott Dodsworth 43lb 6oz, 3 Danny Boland 39lb. Result of Sunday’s league match at Forest Lane Fishery, York (31 anglers): 1 C Tidwell 48lb 9oz; 2 Scott Snowden 31lb 2oz; 3 Neil Harris 31lb 1oz. Section winners: Kev Trevors 28lb 1oz; Danny Boland 23lb 5oz; Scott Dodsworth 18lb 8oz. The venues for this year’s challenge match against Eccleshill AS will be Farview and Carpvale. The top ten anglers from our league prior to the match will qualify to fish and not the B team like last year.
LISTERHILLS AA: Weights were lower than expected in the open match at Rodley. Result: 1 D Moffatt 3lb 3oz; 2 J Walsh 2lb 9½oz; 3 E Marrison 1lb 12oz. The next open is on Saturday, May 9. For Sunday’s match at Pilley’s Dam, the gate will be open at 8am with the draw at 8.45am. The first evening match at Pilley’s Dam is on Tuesday, drawing at 6pm. Fishing the canal midweek, local angler J Dean had a good catch of skimmers and a couple of quality roach.
GRATTAN AC: Results of match at Langwith Lakes: 1 G Brown 51lb 8oz; 2 A Haley 38lb; 3 D Newsome 33lb. Section winners: Rob Lee 32lb 12oz; Mick Brook 28lb. WASHBURN VALLEY: The heaviest fish caught this week was a 7lb rainbow trout by T Croft using Bibio. Fewston & Swinsty: Fewston water level dropped, fish now moving for natural food. Buzzers, nymphs and lures catching good-quality trout. Evening ticket now well worth purchasing. Thruscross: Wild browns giving the angler big thrills.
CENTRAL AC: Our first match is at Oaktree Leisure on Sunday, May 10. Meet 8am at the venue, fishing from 9am to 3pm. Remainder of match fees and subs must be paid on the day. Members are reminded they must be in possession of an up to date river board licence.
BRADFORD NO1 AC: Good catches of mixed coarse fish are being reported from Raskelf Lake. Unfortunately tickets for the match in May for this venue are sold out. The rivers should fish well after the recent influx of water for trout.
UNITY AC: Tuesday evening matches start on May 12. Anybody interested who would like to book on should call 01274-604542.
