Chris Brandon was on target for City reserves Chris Brandon was on target for City reserves

City reserves 5 York reserves 1

Despite having played a Blue Square Premier League game the previous evening, FA Trophy finalists York City arrived at the Coral Windows Stadium with a side containing several players with first-team experience.

This was matched by an equally strong City side, with Chris Brandon, Paul Arnison, Joe Colbeck and Lee Bullock all starting this totesport.com League East clash.

City took the lead in the 39th minute when Brandon headed home from close range and three minutes later Kyle Nix rifled the ball into the back of the net from inside the area.

The visitors went in 3-0 down at the break when Sean Taylforth crossed to Leon Osborne, who finished from close range.

City scored a fourth in the 67th minute when Christian Smith turned the ball past his own keeper and Rory Boulding made it five in the 73rd minute when he latched onto the ball inside the area and finished with a half volley.

York grabbed a late consolation when Liam Shepherd fired home a free-kick following a foul on the edge of the area by Simon Ainge.

City reserves: McLaughlin, Arnison (Bleau), Taylforth, Nix, Ainge, Bellamy, Colbeck, Bullock (Sharry), R Boulding, Osborne, Brandon (Dean). Subs not used: Convey, Harrison.

Great. Job well done, lets just hope the more senior members haven't burned themselves out ahead on Saturday. That's of course if they are in the final eleven.

Kyle Nix, a player who seems to have been forgotten this season. Its a massive shame because he was most effective last season in away games, and this season ironically its our away form that has declined and the home form has got better (though it had to).

Why, it's the first win under Wethers isn't it! They have been as inconsistent as the first team, albeit they have an excuse because Wethers plays kids as well as a few first teamers.

To be fair, York reserves are rubbish. If Nix, Rory, Osborne & Brandon can score, they must be really dire. Perhaps if Conlon had played, he would have got another 5!!

Like I said yesterday, the first team, appear to be less than interested, send in the reserves. Go on, give 'em a go!! security word next-meet. Omen?

Need I say anymore. Four wins all season under Wethers and they were against a very poor York side, a very poor Grimsby side and two wins against Scunthorpe (Crikey they must be bad)!
