Marcus Walmsley hit the decisive goal as Buttershaw Celtic beat Seven Stars 1-0 in an INTERMEDIATE CUP semi-final that saw both teams finish the match with only nine players.
Buttershaw clinched their place in the final of the Bradford Sunday Alliance League competition in the 72nd minute when Walmsley’s shot, following a quickly-taken corner, was ruled to have just crossed the line.
Seven Stars had been kept in the all Division 1A affair by a superb first-half penalty save from Chris Kaye.
A mass confrontation early in the second half led to four players being sent off but that was the only flare-up in an otherwise well-contested tie.
The other semi-final was also tense and again it was settled by a single goal, with Imran Fazil on target as Manningham of Division 2B surprised Division 1B opponents Junction Thornbury.
Manningham had a penalty appeal turned down following a challenge by Thornbury goalkeeper Ross Wilson, who later had to go off injured.
Substitute Tom Mclean was beaten by Imran within ten minutes of coming on and this settled a hard-fought battle.
PREMIER DIVISION action saw title hopefuls Bolton Woods beaten 3-1 by the improving youngsters of Campion Park Avenue, with Miles Smith netting twice.
Leaders Buttershaw White Star also slipped up as Dean Louch’s double proved the key factor in a 3-2 victory for hosts Clayton Orient.
Goalkeeper Damian Clancey was in fine form for Queensbury as they beat West Bowling by the only goal of the game.
Joe Wallace hit the Wyke Wanderers winner ten minutes into the second half against Dudley Hill Rangers as his side leapfrogged their opponents to third in DIVISION ONE.
Leaders Thornton could only share the points with mid-table Otley Road after going in front in the opening minute through Chris Brado. John Selby equalised midway through the first half.
A Chris Butler brace put Hare & Hounds/Power two goals up but Dave Armitage repeated the trick for visitors Westwood Park as the promotion rivals finished all square.
White Eagles beat Baildon Trinity Athletic 2-1, with goalkeeper Des Pickles saving a penalty on his debut.
DIVISION 1A bottom club Hudsons saw goals by Michael Goodchild and Andrew Briggs earn their first point of the season as they gained a 2-2 draw with George Hotel.
Leaders Cuedos Rangers slipped to their third defeat in as many weeks as Mark Reagan’s brace gave Kings Arms a 2-0 win.
Victoria Rangers took the lead in unusual fashion when a clearance by goalkeeper Luke Smith beat his opposite number and set up a 4-3 win over Bolton Woods Social.
Improving Wibsey WMC were indebted to an inspired performance from keeper Leon Ruben as they beat Mill Lane 2-0.
Saltaire Rangers beat St George’s 5-3 in DIVISION 1B as Chris Sutcliffe and George Alberto both struck at the double.
This saw St George’s slip a place to third as Ventus United climbed above them with a 2-0 win at Bolton Junction Inn, with Gary Vento and Danny Backhouse on the mark.
