Bradford No 1 continued where they left off at Thorne the previous week with an excellent 5-1 victory over Barnsley in the YORKSHIRE INTER-DISTRICT LEAGUE at Thornton Conservative Club.

Cuedos-based Sajid Khan was again in good form, putting the home side three up after Kevin Firth had edged both opening frames against county player Brett Miller.

Khan faced Shaun Wilkes, a player currently on the EASB Pro-Ticket Tour, and made a solid 41 break in taking his first frame.

Wilkes replied in the second with a 53 break, before Jason Walton won his first on a black-ball decider and then wrapped up the match with a comfortable last-frame win.

The team next travel to Castleford on Sunday for a rearranged fixture, while Bradford No 2 are at Sheffield No 2 on Saturday. These sides are locked in joint-second place in Division One.

Meanwhile, a new website has been created for the Bradford & District Billiards & Snooker Association by Khan.

He will be responsible for updating the site with news, competition draws, results and forthcoming events and fixtures.

It will include not only the Bradford district but also the Yorkshire region as well, with new features to be created as time goes on.

The draws have now been made for the YORKSHIRE SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIP qualifiers, which can be viewed on the new website.

In the preliminary round on Sunday, February 15, Hanif Rafiq (Cuedos) takes on Andrew Kitson and Lee Atkinson (Laisterdyke Cricket Club) faces Rae Longley.

In the first round, Damien Wilks (Manningham Ward) takes on Luke McEvoy, Kevin Firth (Undercliffe Cricket) has a rematch with Barnsley’s Brett Miller and Sajid Khan (Cuedos) tackles Anthony Banham.

Howard Mawson (Regal) plays newly-crowned Yorkshire under-19 champion Chris Keogan in the preliminary round the following Sunday, while last season’s semi-finalist Gareth Green (Cuedos) takes on Scott Croley in the first round.
