Silsden goalkeeper Martin Foulger has acknowledged the importance of having a good pre-season following the FA Cup draw this week.
The Cobbydalers’ season begins on August 9 and just one week after that they will host near neighbours Eccleshill United in the extra preliminary round. Whoever wins that game will travel to Halifax Town in the next round.
Foulger said: “We will be straight into two big games so we need to make the most of the pre-season training and the friendlies.
“We should be able to do that because the games we have lined up are against sides that will really test us. Harrogate Railway from the UniBond League and Cammell Laird from the Blue Square North are ideal teams to face.
“We have met Railway several times in the West Riding County Cup down the years and Lairds are a club we have a special relationship with. We came up through the divisions of the North West Counties League alongside them.
“We have always maintained strong links with them and because of that they will send their best available players. They know us as a club and there is a mutual respect.”
Silsden will also visit non-league newcomers Brighouse Town.
