After bringing in utility player Steve Burton the previous week, Guiseley eclipsed that news this week when they announced that they had signed striker Adam Muller from Ilkeston Town.
Muller began his career on YTS terms at Sheffield Wednesday and comes to Nethermoor on a two-year contract.
Locals may remember that he had a brief spell on loan at Thackley when Trevor Best, who had links with the Wednesday Academy, was manager of the Northern Counties East Premier Division outfit.
"I think this is big news for the club - a huge signing for Guiseley of a centre forward who will score goals," said assistant manager Wayne Benn. It is understood that the board backed Benn and his boss Steve Kittrick by paying out an undisclosed fee to land the striker.
"I don't know the ins and outs of the deal but Steve and myself had Adam on our wish-list, and once we were given permission to speak to him we tried our best to sell the club to him and he must have been impressed with what we had to say," added Benn.
The number two has first-hand experience of how devastating Muller can be in the oppositions' penalty area.
Benn, who cut his teeth at Valley Parade with the Bantams before putting in a ten-year stint as skipper of Park Avenue, played in the same team as Muller at Wakefield & Emley.
"His club struggled a bit last season (Ilkeston finished fifth from bottom) in our league but he still had a good year personally and banged in 17 goals. He fancied a change, and as soon as we heard that we were obviously very interested.
"This is a feather in our cap because every club in the UniBond Premier is looking to bring in big signings to boost them in the coming season but I think they will all have to ago a long way to get better than Adam.
"If we give him the service, he will get 20 goals a season with his eyes shut - probably many more than that. He and James Hanson have the potential to be the most prolific strike-force in the UniBond."
