Keighley 33, Moortown 19
Keighley, who were dominant in the scrums, overcame a game Moortown outfit 33-19 to book their place in the second round of the Yorkshire Shield yesterday.
The hosts went ahead with a try by flanker Rob Ellis, converted by fly half Alex Brown, the visitors hitting back with a try by winger Don Gray.
In the second half, centre Adam Balderstone scored for the home side but Moortown levelled with a try by scrum half Toby Mann, converted by centre Gareth Lim.
Balderstone moved to scrum half and scored a superb show-and-go try, Brown adding the extras, and they had clear water when Ellis also got his second try, Brown again improving.
However, back came Moortown with a try by hooker Richard Hume, Lim converting to reduce the arrears to seven points.
But Keighley wrapped matters up with a try by Nigel Curr, Brown completing a good afternoon with the boot by converting.
