Minnows Bank Top facing a huge task

Bank Top Harriers face a David versus Goliath challenge on Saturday when they welcome visitors Clayton in a semi-final of the Jack Senior Memorial Bradford Cup.

The Harriers, who are going great guns in Pennine League Division Three, know they will have to move up the gears to overcome a well-drilled Clayton outfit renowned for their cup exploits.

Bank Top have a match-winning centre partnership in Cameron Nelson and Jason Gelder, while Clayton's dangermen will be the powerful duo of Scott Pendlebury and Craig Pickthall.

Holders Queensbury, who relish the big Odsal occasion that is the final, will have their work cut out at West Bowling A.

West's second string's Emsleys Rec ground has been revamped and is, without doubt, an ideal pitch that will allow both teams the opportunity to throw the ball about.

The battle between free-scoring in-form centres, Bury's Joe Swaine and West's Martin Tordoff, will probably decide the outcome.

In the semi-finals of the Hudson Foster Supplementary Bradford Cup, a revitalised Dudley Hill A meet a Clayton A outfit looking to join the first team in the May double-header.

Unbeaten Wibsey Warriors tackle old rivals Wyke A in the other last-four tie.

The Warriors, who have rattled in over 850 points in 14 league games, will be aware that the black and whites are one of the few teams who have given them a run for their money this term.

Wyke, who are looking to register a double over visitors Morley Borough in Division Two of the Pennine League, welcome back captain Simon Owen and goal-kicking stand-off Craig Hillam.

Meanwhile, Odsal Sedbergh are confident of exceeding the 52-22 home success when they travel to Selby Warriors.
