Jinxed Semi Tadulala will not let his latest injury blow get him down.

The Bulls winger is due for surgery on Thursday to "clip back out" a depressed cheekbone suffered in Sunday's loss against Wigan.

The winter capture from Wakefield will be out of action for up to six weeks, missing the first three rounds of Super League - including an opening-day return to his former club.

Having twice broken his arm last year, Tadulala has not enjoyed much luck of late but he refuses to wallow in self-pity.

"After what happened last season, I know I just have to stay positive," said the Fijian.

"I was a little disappointed straight after the game but by the time I left the dressing room I'd got over it.

"It's gone now and there's nothing I can do about it. I've just got to look up rather than feel sorry for myself as that won't help anyone.

"I'll be out for four to six weeks, depending on how quickly I heal, and am just looking forward to getting back in the Bulls jersey."

Tadulala, playing his third pre-season game, had been Bradford's most impressive performer against Wigan.

He notched his first try for the club with a barnstorming effort that illustrated both the pace and power that attracted boss Steve McNamara to his services.

Tadulala said: "I really enjoyed it out there. I was making my debut at Odsal and feeling good about the whole afternoon until the injury but overall I was happy.

"Even when I was on my way to hospital I was still smiling. I'm not going to beat myself up over it and had a good time out there, especially to be running out with the full team.

"I know we lost but for most of the players it was their first chance to blow away some cobwebs."

Tadulala suffered the injury after a typically committed challenge with Wigan winger Liam Colbon, the pair clashing heads as they rose for a high ball.

The 29-year-old Bradford player initially walked away from the incident but said: "I saw him flat out on the ground and thought if he's down, why am I still up?

"I didn't get knocked out or anything but then felt the side of my face and found this dent. I realised it shouldn't be there!

"I probably could have carried on but the physio saw it and brought me off."
