BULLS coach John Kear was delighted with the cohesion and discipline of his team's performance at West Wales Raiders yesterday, despite making seven changes.

His team notched a club record 104-0 away victory at Lanelli's Stebonheath Park, which bettered the 84-12 triumph at Warrington Wolves in Super League in 2001.

York's 10-6 win at home to Oldham keeps them two points clear of Bulls in the League One title race with two games to go.

But Kear said of his side's display: "I am really pleased with that performance. I thought it was very disciplined.

"We gave away three penalties, which was a marked improvement on recent weeks.

"The other pleasing aspect of the performance was that we really stuck to the structure of the play that we worked hard on in training during the week.

"Overall, I am absolutely delighted with the cohesion and crispness of the side, especially when you factor in that I have made seven changes.

"I said to the players on Thursday 'anybody with a hair out of place or a broken fingernail aren't going to play this week' because I wanted to make sure that I have as fully fit a squad as possible, ready for the challenges of the play-offs."

Kear handed a first start this season to 19-year-old Academy star Matthew Storton, who played in the second row, as well as recalling winger Dalton Grant, centre Jy Hitchcox, scrum half Dane Chisholm, prop Callum Bustin, loose forward George Milton and interchange Liam Johnson.

His team rewarded him with 19 tries, with Elliot Minchella and Hitchcox bagging hat-tricks, Grant, Ethan Ryan, Bustin and Gregg McNally braces and Steve Crossley, Ross Peltier, Storton, Tuoyo Egodo and Chisholm singles, with the influential Joe Keyes landing 14 of his 19 pots at goal.

It was the sixth time this season that the winless Raiders have shipped over 100 points – twice to the Bulls, twice to York City Knights and once to Doncaster and Oldham.

However, at least the Bulls faithful swelled the crowd to 826 – the best record for a single club match in south or west Wales since 2012 when South Wales Scorpions faced Oldham, which attracted 849.
