JOSH Wright has promised fans City will turn up against Burton tomorrow with a proper response to their weekend woe.

The skipper delivered a bullish verdict in the wake of a 2-0 loss at Southend that head coach Michael Collins branded as “unacceptable”.

Collins has threatened changes for the first of two home games this week and is demanding his players “roll up their sleeves” to restore public faith.

Three straight defeats have hit morale among the Valley Parade faithful – but Wright vowed City will come out fighting.

He said: “I can assure the fans they are going to see a reaction.

“They spent a lot of hard-earned money to go down to Southend and deserved more. We let them down as well as Micky and his staff.

“But the best thing about football is if you do lose, there’s another game around the corner. We’ve got to thrive off that pressure.

“We’ve got that chance and we have to grab it. We’ll regroup on the training ground and got to have a buzz about us.

“We need to find a spark, whether it be a tackle tomorrow night or a header or shot, whatever it takes to show what we’re about.

“We’ve got a fantastic team here and a great set-up. Bradford City is a club that deserves better and we’re going to do everything in our power to turn things round.”

Collins hopes to have winger Sherwin Seedorf back in contention after being sidelined with a swollen foot.

But the head coach has warned his players there will be no hiding place.

“Bravery in football is about taking the ball in difficult circumstances and constantly showing,” said Collins.

“It’s not always about firing into tackles and winning headers. It’s about having that belief in yourself when things aren’t going for you to still do the right things.

“Every man that steps out on that pitch must show how much it means to play for this football club.

“Do that and the fans will get right behind us. If we don’t, then it will be another long evening.”

Matt Kilgallon was not involved in the weekend squad once again.

Asked whether rumours were true that the defender had been told he wouldn’t play for the club again, Collins said: “The whole Matt Kilgallon situation has been talked about over and over.

“My response remains the same. At this moment we’ve looked at different options and Matt’s not been in the frame, so that situation remains as it was last time.”

Wright admits City will be judged on actions not strong words as they look to bounce back.

He added: “We’re not turning up. We won the first game of the season and maybe we thought it was going to be easier than it has been.

“We need to adapt and get the small basics right. If you do that, it gives you a foothold in the game and then you can start showing your quality and tricks.

“Until you do that, you won’t get anywhere near it. We’ve got to do it as a team.”
