WORKINGTON Town are having a magnificent season under the stewardship of former Bradford Bulls legend Leon Pryce, and they will be aiming to pull off a shock double against the leaders at Odsal tomorrow.

Bulls suffered their first Betfred League One defeat in April when they faced Pryce's men in Cumbria. The visitors were leading for long periods but fell to a last-gasp drop goal from Jordan Tansey, losing 17-16.

John Kear was unimpressed with his side's efforts that day, but he acknowledged that they had come up against a quality Workington team, who took full advantage of any Bulls errors.

The versatile Elliott Miller, who has shone at full back, wing and centre this season, scored a vital late try to bring his side back into the contest.

He has continued that form over the summer and was particularly prominent a fortnight ago, scoring a fine hat-trick of tries in Workington's 34-12 home win over Keighley Cougars.

Joe Hambley has proved prolific this season too, and he added to an already impressive try haul in 2018 with a brace in their last game, a comfortable 40-16 victory over Coventry Bears.

Town's vice-captain Jamie Doran has had an action-packed few weeks. He signed a new three-year deal with the club at the end of July before making his 100th appearance for the club.

He celebrated those two milestones in style, scoring against Cougars and Coventry, taking his try tally to 28 for the Cumbrian outfit.

Workington currently sit third in the League One table, with 15 wins from their 21 games so far. Pryce, in his first season as a head coach, appears to have the same golden touch in the dugout as he did as a player.

He came through the academy at Bulls, originally spending eight years in the first team. He scored 91 tries for the club, and won three Super League titles and two Challenge Cups.

Pryce returns to his home town tomorrow looking to consolidate Town's play-off place. Bulls will be desperate to stop him, as their title battle with York City Knights goes down to the wire.
