IF the shoot-out for the Betfred League One title is developing into a game of Top Trumps, Bradford Bulls coach John Kear reckons that his team have still to play their ace.

There are five matches to go, and the leaders, who went back on top with their 48-0 win at North Wales Crusaders last Sunday at Wrexham, and York City Knights are not only level on league points but are also only separated by ten in the points difference stakes.

The Bulls are on plus 714 and the Knights on plus 704, and Kear said: "York have used their trump card, they've used the West Wales card (the Knights won 130-0 against them last Saturday), whereas we still have ours up our sleeves."

Kear's side are at Llanelli on Sunday, September 9, but he added: "That is too far ahead.

"What we are looking at is Workington on Sunday at Odsal and then know that we can put our feet up for a week and prepare sensibly for the last four games, and that is what we will do."

Kear added about the race for the title: "It is very exciting but James Ford will look after York and I will look after Bradford and hopefully we will come out on top, and that is what I am endeavouring to do."

Just as against Whitehaven, the Bulls achieved a second straight shut-out and their fourth of the season, and Kear said: "North Wales are a tough team, a nuggety team but we just took all their energy out of them with our defence, which was pretty brutal at times.

"Also we are blessed with three quality halves in Dane Chisholm, Joe Keyes and Jordan Lilley, and all of them contributed well."
