I WAS delighted with last week’s performance against Whitehaven.

I was very pleased with what we did on the field but obviously what is important at this time of the season is the result and a 46 points differential against a team in third place would have seen me snapping anyone’s hand off before the game.

The game got a little scrappy in the second period and we made some errors but in the first half we were very good indeed.

We made only two errors and an obstruction when we were in possession but for the rest of the time we looked after the ball and turned it over in the right area of the field.

We scored some good tries on the back of that and I was very pleased with the first half but also realistic enough to know we can improve on the second half performance.

The new recruits have really settled in well and made their mark.

It’s looking good with James Green out there, Tuoyo Egodo went well again and Jonny Pownall did well in his two stints on the field.

It’s also really pleasing to see the young Bradford lads doing well.

I thought Ross Oakes had his best game in my time at the club and Brandon Pickersgill just continues to improve and blossom and is playing better week in week out and it’s good to see.

This week we have another difficult game away at the Crusaders.

They are a difficult side to beat, particularly on their own ground.

It is a tight pitch with a running track around it and it’s not the best surface - the grass is quite long – and that makes for a slower game. They went to Bootham Crescent and only lost 30-0 and they went to Whitehaven and won.

If you look at their results this season they are a very dangerous team.

We did pretty well against them at Odsal and it will have to be something similar again for us to be satisfied with our afternoon’s work.

It’s a very busy time at the moment and the club are working very hard at retaining the players we want to keep for next season and we are having preliminary discussions with players we might want to bring in.

But, while it is a busy time, the priority has got to be what’s happening on the field. Things are going pretty well but we have six games to nail.

We have to be as ruthless as we can taking one game at a time.

We have to nail all six and we have to keep one eye on York and their points differential.

They travel to West Wales today and you would be expecting them to do their ‘for and against’ a lot of good this week.
