BRADFORD face a tough fixture at East Riding tomorrow in the Yorkshire Inter-District League and captain Martin Gaffney admits that is just the start of a busy week of golf for three of his youngsters.

Cleckheaton's Oliver Tasker, Skipton's Max Berrisford and Woodhall Hills' Ben Rhodes are all set to tee off in the North of England Amateur Youth Championship at Middlesbrough Golf Club, which runs from next Tuesday to Thursday.

Rhodes also competed in the English Amateur Matchplay Championship on Merseyside, but was knocked out yesterday after defeat in the second round.

Gaffney was full of praise for the side's youngsters, saying: "Oliver, Max and Ben are heading off straight after the match and they're part of a good young side that we have.

"Max is back involved after missing the last game and Jack Watson from Bingley St Ives is playing his second game in a row. He's one to watch for the future."

Another man in good form is James Darcy, who shot a course record of 62 at his club in the Captain's Day Midweek which beat the previous best of 63 held by Simon Bell in 1999.

He is a key part of the Bradford side, and Gaffney emphasised the importance of having plenty of players to choose from.

He said: "You need a squad for this summer league as holidays always come into play. You also don't want to have people having to play every match.

"There are some changes for this week's match against East Riding but I'm happy with the side we've got."

East Riding are one of the best sides in the Inter-District League and they only conceded top spot to title favourites Sheffield after defeat last time out against Halifax-Huddersfield.

Gaffney admitted: "East Riding have done well after only suffering one defeat so far. I don't think we've lost momentum for the game after summer though.

"We beat Harrogate in our last match on July 8 but I honestly think having the four weeks off is a welcome break as it gives us chance to rest."

Bradford currently sit fifth in an eight-team table after winning two of their four matches so far.
