The best place to start is your man of the match performance against London Skolars, so congratulations on that. The fact that you wrapped that award up and crossed for a try must have left you rather proud?

Yes I was delighted. I only knew I was playing at the last minute. Travelling down I wasn’t expecting to start the game so overall I thought I had a decent game. Of course I’m buzzing that I got man of the match as well and put in another good performance.

You stepped in for Gregg McNally just moments before kick-off, so how do you get yourself into the right mindset when you’re just thrown into the match like that?

To be honest I can’t tell you, because it’s never happened to me before.

Everyone always jokes when you’re the 18th man telling you there is no way your playing, so as soon as Gregg picked up the injury and John Kear gave me the nod, I knew I had to start getting focused, so my mind just switched and I knew I had to go about my business and concentrate on my role in the game.

This is proving to be a breakout season for you isn’t it?

You could say that. I’m playing almost every week now compared to last year where I was hardly getting a run out.

It’s been a massive year for me so far and hopefully one in which I can keep improving.

While relegation to League One wasn’t ideal, it is allowing youngsters like yourself to get regular game time so surely that is a big part of your development?

Yes massively. The only way I’m going to get better is playing week in week out at a good level.

Obviously going down to League One and with Gregg (McNally) struggling with injuries this year I’ve had a lot of opportunities to play which has only benefitted me, the more I play the better I will become as a player.

As a regular part of the first team now, what ambitions do you have left for the season?

Keeping my spot is the main thing. I like to think I’ve gone from being a fringe player to a reliable first-teamer. In terms of the team I want to get promoted.

It’s very much in sight and I think achievable for us.

The defeat to our promotion rivals York was a very high-pressure situation and a game I didn’t feature in, so John probably thought I wasn’t ready for that situation yet, but If I can be involved in those tight games going forward I will improve a lot.

Whitehaven are sure to prove another tough test, so with the pressure on, how do Bradford safely navigate themselves through this?

They were very good earlier in the season and almost took points off us.

We know they’re going to come out on fire and we have to match them, like we did against Skolars.

The start is massive so if we repeat what we did last time out and we grind them down, hopefully we will have the two points come full-time.
