IT was a tremendous occasion last week at Odsal and a great game but unfortunately, we came out on the wrong end of a 30-28 scoreline.

I am going to compliment York because I thought in that first 30 minutes they were outstanding and would have challenged any side in either of the two lower divisions.

They got 24 points up on us and that made it really difficult to come back but I must praise our players for their determination and resolve to come back and I must also praise the fans in the 6,400 crowd for their support and passion.

That really lifted them and enabled them to come back in the way they did.

I am also very much aware that those first 30 minutes were not good enough.

I will not say the first half because we did stem the tide for the last 10 minutes and got over for a try, but we have got to find a solution to our indifferent starts and make sure we don’t put ourselves behind the black ball again.

This week will also prove a tough challenge for us because London Skolars are a good side.

They only lost by two points to York and ran Whitehaven close up in Cumbria so they can obviously play.

They have some big forwards with people like Lamont Bryan who carries the ball strongly and good half backs in young Meadows, who is on dual reg with London Broncos and Mike Bishey and Thorman who are clever players and they have got some strike out wide too.

We know they will challenge us and we also know we have some logistical challenges to overcome with regards to the travelling, and the heat while we are travelling, and a small artificial pitch.

Its coming up to the business end of the season and this week marks the last opportunity clubs have of strengthening their sides for the run in.

Clubs are releasing players for various reasons and other clubs are recruiting them and we want to be a recruiting club.

So, we are looking round the market with a view to making some additions and those players need to be registered by noon on Thursday in order to be able to play this week and by 5pm on Friday to be able to play at all this season.

My phone has been red hot and there is plenty of work going on to strengthen our squad, particularly in the three quarters because we are very light in that area in view of the injury to Ash Gibson.
