THE RUGBY Football League has announced the appointment of Ralph Rimmer as its new chief executive.

Rimmer has worked as interim chief executive since Nigel Wood left the position in January after a decade in the role.

"The Rugby Football League (on Monday) announces that Ralph Rimmer becomes the new CEO of the organisation, with immediate effect," the RFL said in a statement.

"Ralph Rimmer, formerly the chief operating officer of the Rugby Football League, has been interim CEO of the national governing body since January."
