KEIGHLEY captain Louis Horsfield lifted the JW Lees Brewery T20 Group B Cup after his side cruised to a six-wicket win over Jer Lane at Hanging Heaton.

The Bradford Premier League Championship Two leaders won with 7.1 overs to spare after Lane failed to take advantage of batting first when they won the toss.

The league newcomers were unable to build momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals. Hammy Shahzad (2-28) removed both openers Nahim Ashraf and Thomas Harrison and that gave Keighley the initiative.

When in-form Raqeeb Younis was dismissed for a duck, caught by Paul Quinlan from Ben Jagger's bowling, and the experienced Imran Mirza was trapped lbw for nought by spinner Adam Greenwood, Lane were 33-4.

Jagger (2-17) reduced the Conference side to 58-5 and in danger of capitulating. Captain Mick Hustler and Amjid Khan fought hard to try and revive their side.

Hustler (39) and Khan (23) added 44 and at least gave their side's score a more respectable look before both fell victims to Quinlan (2-12).

Their score of 121-7 looked below par and so it proved. Keighley got off to a brisk start and the Jer Lane bowlers could not apply the brakes.

Adam Smith (26) and Jonathan Wilkinson (28) set the tone before Nathan Storton (32no) completed the job.

Keighley were deserved winners and once the initial disappointment of defeat fades, Jer Lane should draw confidence from the fact they have contributed positively to this season's competition.
