CHARLIE Wyke, subject of a bid from Sunderland, watched on as City suffered a second pre-season defeat at York this afternoon.

It is understood that the Black Cats have made an offer for the centre forward. But it is believed it is nowhere near enough for the Bantams to seriously consider.

Wyke was one of the absentees against the Conference North side with a knock having sat out training at the end of the week.

He was at Bootham Crescent but only in a watching capacity from the main stand with the other players not involved.

Joe Riley, Ryan McGowan, Shay McCartan,Romain Vincelot and Alex Jones were also missing from the team as well as Tyrell Robinson and Jake Reeves.

Nathaniel Knight-Percival and Omari Patrick came off the bench early in the second half for their first involvement in the pre-season programme.

In a first half of very few chances, Seedorf demonstrated his pace on the left side of a front three.

The Wolves winger whisked a cross-shot across the face of goal before creating the one genuine moment of excitement from City.

He fired a decent effort inside the box but York keeper Adam Bartlett was equal to it with the tip-over.

The hosts responded just before the break as Richard O'Donnell showed his reflexes to keep out Jordan Burrow's header from a corner.

O'Donnell made way at half-time for another trialist in goal, Theo Richardson from Manchester United.

But Richardson was beaten after 61 minutes as York took the lead as Hamza Bencherif slammed home from 10 yards after Josh Law's half-cleared corner had dropped at his feet.
