JOHN Kear admits he has been taken aback by how quickly the Bulls have rebuilt following the club’s third administration.

The experienced coach, who has been at the Odsal helm since December, believes they have moved on leaps and bounds this year.

With 12 games left, the Bulls currently head League One and are on course to make an instant return to the Championship following relegation.

But Kear also highlighted the significant strides that are being made behind the scenes as the club recover from the financial misery that nearly saw them wiped off the rugby league map.

He said: “You wouldn’t believe how much the club has changed within 12 months.

“We hoped the club and the team had bottomed out last year and that’s the reason we are in League One.

“But the way the club’s accelerated its development is absolutely first class.

“That’s not just with regards to the first team but off the field as well.

“We’re at the forefront with things like live streaming (matches on Facebook) and showing the England games here. We’re making game days into events rather than just fixtures.

“You look at the good work that goes on with the academy. We’ve got three guys in England under-16s and two in the under-18s.

“It’s all down to the positive acceleration of the club.”

Gregg McNally, meanwhile, has been pencilled in for the trip to Hunslet on July 15 for his latest comeback.

The former Leigh fullback’s first season at the club has been hampered by a quad injury which flared up once more against North Wales earlier this month.

Kear said: “We’re hoping he will be okay for the Hunslet game but we’re not putting any pressure on him. But that would be an ideal one to return to.

“As far as I’m concerned, it’s just a freak accident to happen twice to the same muscle. I don’t think it’s a problem whatsoever.

“He is very frustrated but we’ve got to support and help him and hopefully he comes good.

“I keep saying that we will improve. One of the major improvements will be once we get all our best players out on the field at the same time.”
