COVENTRY Bears were hardly mauled by Bradford Bulls when the pair last clashed in April, but if recent form is anything to go by, they will be worried that their 52-6 defeat in that game will be surpassed in the Midlands tomorrow.

Several Bulls players crossed the try line in that game, with Liam Johnson, Jy Hitchcox and George Flanagan all bagging braces in the win at Odsal.

The home side went into that contest off the back of a surprise defeat at Workington, but have not looked back since beating Coventry, emerging victorious in every subsequent Betfred League One game.

The opposite is the case for the Bears. Their only win this season came way back on March 11, a 22-16 victory away at Hemel Stags.

Results have taken a particularly sharp down turn since their defeat at Odsal. Notable results since have included a 98-6 thrashing at Keighley Cougars, and a 60-0 home reverse against Oldham.

Coventry's try scorer in their defeat to Bulls was half back Ben Stead. He comes from Bingley and signed for the club at the end of last season from Gloucestershire All Golds.

He was part of the England Universities squad that travelled to Australia last summer for the Student Rugby League World Cup and was named half back of the tournament.

Captain Chris Barratt plays in the second row and has led the team throughout a difficult season. He has found a scoring touch recently though, with tries in their last two games against Hunslet and Newcastle Thunder.

Many of the squad have links to Coventry through the city's university. One of those is powerful Irish prop Peter Ryan, who is a strength and conditioning student there.

One of his standout performances this season came at home to York City Knights. He scored a first half try as the Bears gave their esteemed visitors an early fright.

That score levelled the game up, and Coventry found themselves only 24-18 behind at the break. York's class told eventually though, and they ran out 58-18 winners.

With no relegation at this level, Bears will be looking to simply avoid finishing bottom. They currently sit above Hemel and West Wales Raiders in the standings.

Tickets for tomorrow's clash at the Butts Park Arena in Coventry start at £12 for adults and £10 for concessions. It costs £5 for children to enter although Under-12s can watch for free. Kick off is at 3pm.
