OSCAR Otte has suffered disappointment for the second day running.

The 24-year-old from Cologne was beaten in the final of the Fuzion 100 Ilkley Trophy yesterday 6-4, 6-4 by Ukrainian Sergiy Stakhovsky, who thus secured a wild-card place into the men's singles at Wimbledon next week.

The 6ft 5in Otte was therefore consigned to the lottery of Wimbledon qualifying at Roehampton, and was beaten 6-4, 6-3 today by experienced Spaniard Marcel Granollers, who was seeded tenth.

There was better news, however, for Michael Mmoh (United States) and Jason Kubler (Australia), who lost in the semi-finals at Ilkley.

Mmoh, seeded 19th at the Bank of England Sports Centre, beat Ilkley qualifier Noah Rubin 7-6 (9-6), 6-2 in an all-American battle, while Kubler, who has had six knee operations despite only being 25, defeated Belgium's Arthur De Greef 6-2, 6-1.

Ilkley quarter-finalists Thomas Fabbiano (Italy) and Peter Polansky (Canada) also took one step nearer reaching the All England Club with victories, and now need only two more victories.

Fabbiano, seeded 16th at Roehampton, beat Guilherme Cezar (Brazil) 6-2, 6-3, while eighth seed Polansky had a tougher time overcoming Tsung-Hue Yang of Chinese Taipei 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Great Britain's  Dan Evans, on the comeback trail after a 12-month ban for cocaine use, has already won three matches in Wimbedon pre-qualifying at nearby Southlands College, and the Midlander made it a fourth success in Roehampton by defeating Ilya Ivashka of Belarus 6-4, 6-4.

Ivashka was the fourth seed at Ilkley, but was beaten by Rubin 6-2, 6-4 in the first round.

Evans will next play Germany's Matthias Bachinger, but Birmingham-born Evans wasn't the only British success as Lloyd Glasspool beat Sergio Gutierrez-Ferrol (Spain) 7-5, 7-5 and Alex Ward defeated Barbados' Darian King, who reached the Ilkley quarter-finals, 4-6, 7-5, 6-0 in 1hr 59min.

However, there were straight-set defeats for other British Ilkley main-draw wild cards George Loffhagen, Aidan McHugh and Jack Draper, with Loffhagen falling 7-6, (7-4), 6-0 to Ilkley second seed Jurgen Zopp.

Some Ilkley entrants defeated seeds today, with Gregoire Barrere (France) seeing off No 23 Thiago Monteiro (Brazil) 6-4, 2-6, 6-3, Stefano Napolitano (Italy) defeating No 4 Elias Ymer (Sweden) 6-4, 7-6 (9-7), and Dennis Novikov beating No 18 Calvin Hemery (France), who retired when 5-1 down.

Players seeded at Roehampton who played at Ilkley and won today included Stefano Travaglia (Italy), Alexander Bublik (Kazakstan), Donald Young (United States) and Hubert Hurkacz (Poland).

Meanwhile, seeds to lose who played at Ilkley were third favourite Prajash Gunneswaran (India) and fifth seed Marc Polmans (Australia), who lost to Bachinger 6-3, 4-6, 8-6 in 2hr 19min.

Other long matches included Austria's Sebastian Ofner losing 6-4, 5-7, 9-7 to Spain's Daniel Gimeno-Traver in 2hr 29min and Australia's John-Patrick Smith defeating former world junior No 1 Uladzimir Ignatik (Belarus) 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 8-6 in 1hr 59min.

Men's doubles qualifying wrapped up the day's play, and Ilkley winners Austin Krajicek (United States) and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan (India), who are seeded fourth at Roehampton, beat Brits Marcus Willis and McHugh 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.

Fifth seeds Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies (Germany), who were Ilkley runners-up, beat Hugo Dellien (Bolivia) and Goncalo Oliveira (Portugal) 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 but Thai twins Sancahi and Sonwat Ratiwatana, who are former Ilkley semi-finalists, lost 6-4, 6-4 to second seeds Sandor Gille and Jorgan Vliegen (Belgium).

Glasspool now meets 38-year-old Frenchman Stefane Robert, while Alex Ward faces 2017 Ilkley runner-up Alex Bolt, who put out 13th seed Quentin Halys (France) 7-6 (7-3), 3-6, 6-3.
