LUKE Hopkins spoke to Bradford Bulls' Mikey Wood and they discussed the second row's time at the club so far, as well as some individual and team aims for the rest of the season.

You are on loan from Huddersfield Giants, so how are you finding your Bulls experience so far?

I am really enjoying it here. I have had such a warm welcome from everybody at the club.

The lads and the coaching staff are fantastic, it really is a quality atmosphere.

How about the number of fans you are playing in front of each week? It isn’t the norm for a League One side.

It honestly is crazy the number of fans that turn out to support us. It’s unreal how they are there every week, making up chants for everyone and the games are class because of it.

Is the environment here similar to that at Huddersfield?

To be truthful, there are a lot of similarities. It’s a brilliant set-up at Bradford, with the facilities all being in one place, because things like that really help players like me develop when you add in the good coaching staff.

John Kear, Leigh Beattie and Mark Dunning are always there to talk to, and there is the video room where I can review my own games, so it just helps players like me to get better and better.

You were in the squad against Whitehaven which proved a huge test of the Bulls, but one which we emerged from victorious, so do games like that aid your development?

Absolutely. As a team we always knew that was going to be a tough one. Going away to Cumbrian teams like Whitehaven, they are always good on their home spots, so it was good to get the win.

It was nice to be a part of the game and see all the Bradford fans come down and generate some income for them, since they are having some money issues. It was a great day.

Your first and only try in Bulls colours came in the win against Doncaster, so you must be hoping for a repeat?

It was a huge moment for me to get over the line, I just need to get a few more. Now we meet Doncaster again and it will be interesting to see how they perform, but we are strong at home and are out for another win.

Considering all your appearances to date have come off the bench, is the next stage for you being able to force your way into the starting thirteen?

Honestly I’m not concerned about starting on the bench, I actually quite like coming on, making an impact and linking up with Ross Peltier, I think that suits my style. We are a good partnership.

Looking forward to the rest of the season, we are top with a two-point advantage, can the side go on and claim the League One title?

That is definitely our goal. We have played most of our hard away games now, and can look forward to the big boys coming to us like York, which will prove a must-win game if we want the title.

We are very confident, though, because we are a very difficult team to beat, nobody finds it easy to take points at Odsal.
