WRENTHORPE are the new leaders of The All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League Championship One after they collected a maximum 20 points for a resounding 226-run win over Batley.

Opener Jordan Sleightholme set them on the road to victory with fine innings of 119 which contained 17 fours. Michael Donnelly (36) joined him in an opening stand of 99 as Wrenthorpe built a total of 272-7.

Batley had no answer to in-form Awais Ejaz (7-25) and Jonathan Rudge (3-20) as they were dismissed for just 46.

Undercliffe are a point behind Wrenthorpe after harvesting 19 points from their four-wicket win over bottom team Ossett.

Michael Kelsey, promoted to opener, seized his opportunity with 58 as Undercliffe passed the Ossett score of 160. Paul Malone (47) and Ian Philliskirk (40) battled hard but their side’s score proved insufficient. Left-armer Craig Wiseman did good work again as he returned figures of 4-36.

Third-placed Morley were made to work hard for their four-run home win by a spirited Pudsey Congs.

Reggie Thomas made his highest score for Morley of 76 and overseas Sanga Cooray made 47 in a total of 230-9. The best of the Congs bowlers were Jacques Allen (3-31) and Mustafa Rafique (3-59).

The Congs reply was dominated by opener James Ford. The left-handed batsman made a fine 94 while Ashley Slater made 37. Congs made a bold attempt to force victory but off-spinner Dave Nebard (4-57) ensured that Morley clung on for the win.

The day’s best bowling performance came from Bankfoot skipper James Lee. The former Yorkshire paceman took 8-26 as his side bowled out Yeadon for 93 to complete a 102-run win. Only Sam Massheder (51) offered resistance.

Jawad Waheed (53) continued his good form for Bankfoot while Shanz Prangige made 34 in a total of 195-8. The best of the Yeadon bowlers were Damon Gormley (3-39) and James Massheder (3-55).

Fourth-placed Gomersal had a comfortable four-wicket win over lowly Hunslet Nelson.

Skipper Graham Hilton (41) and Jonathan Boynton (37no) helped them to overhaul Nelson’s 154-9. Harry Dale was top scorer with 42 as his side were pegged back by Richard Wear (4-31) and Chris Rhodes (3-37).

Hartshead Moor registered their second win of the season when they overcame Baildon by 72 runs. Opener Craig Field (77) and overseas player Ali Shan (49) helped their side to make 213-6 before bowling out Baildon for 141, Mounam Ejaz (51) was top scorer for Baildon as Mohammad Khan took 3-34.
